Celebrating Bill Cunningham

I was in the city last Wednesday and decided to check out the new Bill Cunningham exhibit at The New York Historical Society. He truly was an icon to New York City and it is sad he is no longer around photographing on his bike. I enjoyed the exhibit, but wished it was a bit bigger. It is in a small room, but done very well. If you stop here to see this exhibit, be sure to check out the Tiffany Lamp exhibit and the Walk This Way: Footwear from the Stuart Weitzman Collection of Historic Shoes.
Celebrating Bill Cunningham marks the New-York Historical Society’s recent acquisition of objects, personal correspondence, ephemera, and photographs that reflect the life and work of Bill Cunningham, one of the late 20th century’s most influential trend-spotters and style authorities.

How many of you knew Bill started his career as a milliner?
I loved one of his original hat boxes and business card !

These hats are fabulous and could be worn today!

Gorgeous hat and hat pin

If you have not watching the documentary Bill Cunningham New York, you must! It is really wonderful and something I own so I can watch whenever I feel the need to be inspired.

This was awesome to see in person. One of my first blogger events was the Met Museum fashion exhibit and Bill was there, I was in awe seeing him in person, and am so glad I had that opportunity.

I LOVE this hat! So darn marvelous!

The gift shop has superb items available and I did get my Bill Cunningham bag! They are just the coolest things and worth every penny!

The scarf was great too but I am not a fan of them as usually never cold. Would be fun to purchase and frame to hang on a wall. Very cool for a very cool guy!
