Divine Egypt at The Metropolitan Museum of Art

I had the privilege of attending the press event at the Met for the Divine Egypt exhibit when it opened and it was quite a wonderful experience. If you are a lover of Egyptian art, this is something you do not want to miss. It is on view until January 19, 2026, so you still have some time to visit. These are just a few of the amazing items on display, I cannot stress enough you do not want to miss this exhibit. Be sure to check the hours  of the Met as well, as they are closed on Wednesday and Thursday.

The Morgan Library Garden

Hi everyone! Hope you have enjoyed your summer, it's amazing Fall is right around the corner. I have already had my pumpkin spice latte as I can never enjoy the pumpkin flavors quick enough! 

Yesterday was a gorgeous day in the city, no humidity, rare for a day in August. The Morgan Garden is a must see at one of my favorite places, The Morgan Library. I thought I would give you a little tour so that you can see, it should be added to your to-do list when visiting the city. 

Visitors to the Morgan are able to enjoy the Garden with museum admission every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, through October 27, 2024.

The architecture is just stunning from these wonderful views! 

In a city where it is non-stop hustle and bustle, the Morgan Garden is a wonderful spot to just enjoy a quaint moment in New York City. Do not miss the chance to visit here, you will not be disappointed. 

The Morgan Library & Museum

The Morgan Library & Museum is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 10:30 am to 5 pm, and Friday from 10:30 am to 7 pm.
The Morgan closes at 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve and 5 pm on New Year's Eve.
Closed Mondays, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day.

$25 Adults
$17 Seniors (65 and over)
$13 Students (with current ID)
Free to children 12 and under (must be accompanied by an adult)

Discounted admission of $13 is available for disabled visitors, admission is free for accompanying caregivers. Admission to the historic rooms of J. Pierpont Morgan’s Library is free Tuesday and Sunday 3 to 5 pm. Reservations for these free hours are not required.

The Beauty of Bryant Park

I have been to Bryant Park a zillion times but when I visited recently, I had the chance to take my time and really enjoy the area. I seem to always be in a rush when I have visited before, and it just made me fall in more love with the place. Staying at the Bryant Park Hotel was just a very smart move as well. 

Here is some history from the Bryant Park website:

Given its location at the center of one of the world’s great cities, it comes as no surprise that the history of the area that is now Bryant Park is rich, predating even the Declaration of Independence.

The history of this space as more than true wilderness began in 1686, when New York’s first Royal Governor Thomas Dongan deemed the area, among other “unappropriated lands” to be public property under the control of the Common Council, a precursor to the City Council we have today. It remained as such for more than 100 years with little interruption, although a notable exception came in 1776 when General George Washington and his troops are said to have passed through the area following their retreat from the Battle of Long Island.

I had no idea George Washington and his troops came through here! I think I need to do their tour that they offer the next time I am in for a few days! How beautiful are these scenes ? It was so relaxing with the trees all around, we all need a rest from the busy grind of the day to day. 

This building takes my breathe away every time I walk past and I finally decided to take some photos and photo the plaque as well. So many buildings in this great city have so much history.

All that detail just makes me swoon ! 

Bryant Park is located between 40th and 42nd Streets and Fifth and Sixth Avenues behind the New York Public Library's Stephen A. Schwarzman building.

Van Gogh's Cypresses at The Met

Here are a few more photographs from the wonderful paintings at the Van Gogh Cypresses exhibit which is on view until August 27th 2023. This is a must see exhibit if you are an art lover, and I would highly suggest planning a visit this summer. 

This was probably my favorite and I am looking at obtaining a print to hang on the wall in my home. The colors are just so magnificent and make you smile!

Van Gogh's Cypresses

Happy Monday! I hope you are all having a fabulous month of May! I cannot believe Memorial Day is almost here! I had the pleasure of attending the press event for the new exhibit which opens today, Van Gogh's Cypresses, at The Met. It was great to be back in the swing of things in my favorite city, and the exhibit will blow your minds. The work is just incredible and a once in a lifetime opportunity to see all these works together. 

Here is some information from The Met: 

“The show is a dream come true,” said Max Hollein, Marina Kellen French Director of The Met. “Marking the 170th-anniversary year of Van Gogh’s birth, this highly focused survey unpacks his distinctive vision of the commanding cypress trees. A once-in-a-lifetime gathering of works presents both an overview and an intimate glimpse of his creative process, challenging prevailing notions with fresh insights.” The trees Van Gogh painted, which were a fixture of Provence, France where he was living when he created these paintings (1888-1890), were not so much background characters in his works but recurring stars. According to The Met, Van Gogh was taken by these flame-like cypresses from the beginning of his two-year stay in the South of France. In letters to his bother, he expressed a “need” to paint them.

“To find the real character of things here, you have to look at them and paint them for a long time,” he wrote.

How cool to see this up close ! Just amazing !!
