My Top 13 Netflix Favorites 2018

Another year, more wonderful Netflix shows to enjoy! This is NOT a Sponsored post in any way. I am a HUGE fan of Netflix, and was so happy when my streaming started working for me. When I initially tried it when my Mom was still here, we had issues with the picture freezing for some reason. After she passed away, I tried it again, and it worked! Happy day! I made a list back in 2016 about my favorite Netflix shows, you can view that here. I felt it was time for an update!

The Crown - is just an amazing show and the most expensive television program to produce at 130 million. The actors are fabulous, and the fashion along with sets of castles make me drool. This is the story of the current Queen Elizabeth II ( I am obsessed with royalty and it's history) which is very interesting. I don't think it would be fun being in the royal family, too many rules for me.  Queen Elizabeth II has been Queen of the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand since 6 February 1952. She is the longest reigning British monarch in history.

Father Brown - My Mom got me hooked on British tv and mysteries are a big part of their line-up. I found Father Brown on my own, and have enjoyed it very much.  The show began airing on BBC One on 14 January 2013. It features Mark Williams as the eponymous crime-solving Roman Catholic priest. The series is loosely based on short stories by G. K. Chesterton of the same name. It has humor as well as some wonderful small town British scenery. I found out after I was done with the first season, Mark Williams was actually Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter films! I didn't recognize him, and so felt my Mom would have loved this show. She for sure would love it indeed. The show is still on the air via BBC in their 6th season. Netflix has all 5 seasons available for streaming.

Master of None - I started liking Master of None very late in the game, but now I am obsessed! Aziz Ansari ( I never watched Parks and Rec) is a top talent, he is just so funny. I love the themes of each show, they really make you think. Ansari plays the role of Dev, a New York-based actor who is struggling to identify what he really wants, both personally and professionally. Aziz's real parents actually play his parents on the show. The 2nd season he goes to Italy to learn how to make pasta, the first few episodes are in black and white, and they are some of the BEST episodes I have ever seen. I have watched the seasons a few times and am anxious for season 3.

Bojack Horseman - I kept hearing about this show, and I just blew it off. Last year I decided to see what the talk was about and I am oh so darn hooked! This show is fantastic with a super-duper cast: The series stars Will Arnett as the title character, the wonderful supporting cast includes Amy Sedaris, Alison Brie, Paul F. Tompkins, and Aaron Paul. It is a adult cartoon that is done so, so well.
A humanoid horse, BoJack Horseman -- lost in a sea of self-loathing and booze -- decides it's time for a comeback. Once the star of a '90s sitcom, in which he was the adoptive father of three orphaned kids (two girls and a boy). The show was the hottest thing around, then suddenly, was canceled. Now 18 years later, BoJack wants to regain his dignity. With the aid of a human sidekick and a feline ex-girlfriend who is his agent, he sets out to make it happen. But Hollywood is vastly different from those days, and getting used to stuff like Twitter may take some time. Just trust me and watch it.

Grace and Frankie - This is just another fantastic Netflix original with some very talented iconic actors. I love everyone in this show, it is so funny, and yet tender at times as well. They're not friends, but when their husbands leave them for each other, proper Grace and eccentric Frankie begin to bond in this Emmy-nominated series. Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen and Sam Waterston are pure magic! Season 4 starts January 19th and I am oh so darn tootin' excited! Another one I have to say, just watch it!

Broadchurch - The death of a young boy sparks a complex murder investigation that puts a entire town, its residents and its secrets under a national spotlight. Local police officer Ellie Miller (Olivia Colman) is begrudgingly teamed up with shady newcomer D.I. Alec Hardy (David Tennant) on the tense case. Another British crime drama that I really enjoy. I am on the 3rd season which I believe is their last. Olivia Colman will be taking over the title role of Queen Elizabeth II in Season 3 in The Crown, and another actor in this series, Jodie Whittaker, is to be the first female Doctor Who! A very talented group of folks indeed.

Ozark -  This was a new show that started in 2017, and I decided to just give it a try. Oh my goodness! What an excellent show with Jason Bateman and Laura Linney. Jason Bateman stars as Marty Byrde, a financial planner who relocates his family from Chicago to a summer resort community in the Ozarks. With wife Wendy and their two kids in tow, Marty is on the move after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe. It kept me on my toes for every single episode. I cannot wait until Season 2 ! If you like suspense, this is for you.

GLOW - I was hesitant to watch this one, but I finally gave in. The series revolves around a fictionalization of the characters and gimmicks of the 1980s syndicated women's professional wrestling circuit, the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling (or GLOW) originally created by David McLane. It surprised me that it held my interest, loved seeing the world of the 80's and that cool music! It was written by the same group who gave us Orange is the New Black. Alison Brie (who is also in Bojack Horseman) was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role. Alison was also part of a small show called Mad Men and played Trudy Campbell.

Friends from College - The series follows a group of friends from Harvard played by Keegan-Michael Key, Cobie Smulders, Annie Parisse, Nat Faxon, Fred Savage, and Jae Suh Park. This was another one I found on my own, and really enjoyed. I love comedies and everyone in this is really at the top of their game. Season 2 should be interesting and will be available around July of 2018.

The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt - I am so addicted to this downright silly comedy! When a woman is rescued from a doomsday cult and lands in New York City, she must navigate a world she didn’t think even existed anymore. Ellie Kemper, Jane Krakowski, Tituss Burgess and Carol Kane make my day! If you have had a bad day or week, this is the show you want to binge watch. I cannot wait for Season 4 to laugh so hard my tummy hurts. Those are the BEST kind of laughs!

LOVE - Rebellious Mickey and good-natured Gus navigate the thrills and agonies of modern relationships in this bold comedy co-created by Judd Apatow (whom I love). Paul Rust is awesome in this, and I really enjoy Claudia O'Doherty from Australia. Netflix has announced that the upcoming third season of "Love," will be its last. It is set to debut on March 9, 2018. I will be quite ready to see the last season of this one.

Orange is the New Black - One of the first classic Netflix originals, now in it's 6th season, still holds my interest. Sometimes after a few seasons, the show doesn't hold the same excitement. I didn't think I would enjoy a show about a women's prison, but apparently I do. This one is one of my favorites, and I am anxious for Season 6 sometime in June of 2018.

Stranger Things - When a young boy disappears, his mother, a police chief, and his friends, must confront terrifying forces in order to get him back. I normally do not like this kind of shows, it would for sure be something my Mom would have loved. For some reason however I am obsessed with it. It is done so well, and features Winona Ryder, David Harbour and some very talented young actors. The second season was just as good, or better than the first. I have to watch however when it is still daylight out. I would not suggest watching alone in the dark.

What are some of your favorite shows on Netflix? Am I missing something really good from my list? I hope you enjoyed my list and maybe I have convinced you to try one of these highly entertaining shows!
