Atlantic Grill Restaurant Review 2020

Happy March everyone! We have had such a wonderful mild winter in the Northeast, I feel very lucky indeed! Today we are stopping by the Atlantic Grill which is located right across from Lincoln Center. It has been in the neighborhood since 1998, and I have now visited a few times which have been fantastic. I love a restaurant where you can find good food and a lovely relaxing atmosphere. The restaurant specialty is seafood, raw bar but they do offer a few non-seafood items like burgers and chicken. If you are a lover of sushi, this would be a great place to visit.
I visited in January with a friend for Winter Restaurant Week and we enjoyed some very fine dishes. The salmon with black rice was really wonderful and my friend cleaned her plate!

I had shrimp with polenta croutons and garbanzo beans - very light and tasty

I then went back solo for brunch and was not disappointed at all. This wonderful hot bread basket was brought before the meal. They offered me a free cocktail or coffee with my meal, which I thought was lovely, not sure if it is done with every brunch on weekends but a nice touch.

This time I tried the crab cake sandwich which was very tasty and large portion. The crab cake was mostly crab, no filers, and the fries were crisp and fresh

I have a feeling this will be one of my go-to spots when in this area. Dinner is more pricey so I would advise to enjoy for lunch/brunch or they also offer Monday to Friday prix-fixe dinner until 7pm for $50.00 and prix-fixe lunch until 4pm for $30.00.

BlackBarn Restaurant Review 2019

Shrimp & Grits
‘nduja, creole butter, chives

As you know, the NoMad section of the city is one of my favorites, and I have been visiting Black Barn restaurant a few times. The dishes are always so tasty, and the setting is very cool. The dish above, shrimp with grits for brunch was so delish, I was in heaven!

For dinner, this was a vegetable salad for 2 with all fresh veggies - very healthy

Some arancini for the table made me really smile, 1 is just enough to taste and enjoy
They are balls of risotto mixed with cheese and maybe sausage lightly fried

Our main dish was healthy as well, Branzino for 2 with fresh veggies
The fish was flavored so perfectly, and just melted in your mouth
For dessert, they are famous for their Rum Butterscotch Bread Pudding with vanilla ice cream and toffee sauce. It is worth going off the healthy eating plan and if you share, which you really need to, it makes it perfect.

If you are in the NoMad or Chelsea area of the city, BlackBarn Restaurant is a very good choice !

Atlantic Grill Restaurant Review

Someone explain to me how it is July 31st ? I don't know where this year is going! Last year I spent my birthday in the city and dined at Atlantic Grill located in the Upper West Side. It was a wonderful choice after seeing The Nutcracker Ballet (you must go if you have not, it is beyond fantastic). I spend quite a bit of time on the UWS as it's so much more of a neighborhood feel as well as great dining and shopping along with museums. I choose the scallop dinner, seafood is my favorite, and they were just so delish!

Wonderful fish with veggies and rice
For the chocolate lover, a top dessert AND
For my birthday, a lovely surprise along with some Prosecco on the house for myself and my friend, and a bag of their chocolate cookies to take with me. The food and service was divine and I hope to head back when in the area, they have lunch/brunch specials which look top notch. Sushi is a big menu item here if you are a fan, lots of choices. The restaurant has been in this location near Lincoln Center for 20 years!

Cipriani Dolci Restaurant Review

This is another place where I have walked past a zillion times and never had the pleasure of sitting down to a meal. Cipriani Dolci in Grand Central turned out to be very much worth all the talk you hear about it. I was dining with 2 lovely colleagues and we wanted something in this area so I felt it was a good time to check it out.

The view first of all just blows your mind. I love the ceiling at Grand Central and it's quite a joy to stare at it while dining. The restaurant opened in March 2002 and offers all day casual dining.

We choose the 3 course special menu for I believe it was $45.00 total. Everything was so yummy and I for sure will be back when in this area, as I am often and it's location is perfect for me at the end of the day. We had to try very hard to not eat all the breadsticks as they were pretty over the top as well!

Imported Burrata Alla Mediterranea
With cherry tomato

Pure Italian heaven
You can always tell when you have fresh pasta, it isn't heavy at all.

This cake. OMG. (that is all I will say)

Strip House Midtown Restaurant Review

This is the last Christmas post in June, I promise! I just cannot not share with you the great places I visited during last year's holiday. The Strip House is a restaurant right next to the Sofitel New York, where I was staying. For some reason Christmas Day is always not something planned but I pick a place that day. I felt like just doing something close to the hotel and have never eaten here before.

I was totally blown away by this place. The food was so amazing, and if you are a steak lover, it is a must. It is on the pricey side, so be warned, but very much worth it. What caught me on the menu was baked Alaska, something I've always wanted to try. It was a happy day indeed!

Lobster Bisque soup was totally creamy and delish
The bread basket was totally over the top, warm fresh made rolls, some with garlic flavor, I could have dined on this alone. I could have ate the whole basket but I restrained myself.
I ordered diver scallops, one of my favorites and they were so yummy

Baked Alaska! Have you ever enjoyed ? Oh I was just over-the-moon as it was just unreal. So so good and I felt bad being able to eat about half of it. The waiter asked if I wanted to take it with me and I said "No freezer in my hotel" which was so sad! You must try this dessert if you have never enjoyed it - It is worth every darn calorie!
I didn't even mind the strawberry sorbet or ice cream inside - I am usually not a fan of strawberry anything but it didn't matter. Pure heaven.

Union Square Cafe Review

As I always say, there are so many places to visit in New York City, this was one that was on my list for quite some time. Union Square Cafe, which has been around for a very long time, and owned by Danny Meyer. I was thrilled to finally stop by for brunch with a friend and was so excited that it is worth the hype. The space is very lovely and large, the food was totally amazing and I hope to be back soon when in the area. Here is some history on the place from their website:

Danny Meyer's Union Square Cafe has re-opened in its new location on 101 East 19th Street. Founded in 1985, Union Square Cafe was one of the originators of contemporary American cuisine, and remains a destination for warm hospitality and Chef Carmen Quagliata's thoughtfully executed, creative cooking. Union Square Cafe is Danny Meyer’s first restaurant and the birthplace of a generation of widely lauded, award-winning restaurants, as well as the starting point for the careers of many world-renowned chefs.

Union Square Cafe has won five James Beard Awards and also earned Zagat Survey’s #1 ranking as New York’s Most Popular Restaurant an unprecedented nine times. Union Square Cafe is a non-tipping restaurant.

I like the fact that the tip is included, especially when you are dining with others. This was a big deal when Danny Meyer decided to go this route, but I think it was the right choice. I would highly recommend you trying the place, you will not be disappointed!

Old fashioned pancakes, like Mom used to make
Chicken Milanese
Chicory & Apple Salad, Walnut Raisin Vinaigrette, Pecorino Romano
This was so yummy and a great choice for me!

The Morgan Dining Room

Even though I visit the Morgan Library very often, I had yet to enjoy at meal at the Morgan Dining Room. I have always dined at their cafe which is wonderful and relaxing.
The dining room is beautiful, a bit more fancy and great for a special occasion to celebrate. I love the atmosphere in this building!

I opted for the Prix-Fix Brunch for $28 which gives you a Mimosa, main course and dessert. I choose the chicken schnitzel which was so, so good.
A very generous serving as well
The cake was good, but a bit on the dry side, overall a wonderful dining experience at The Morgan Dining Room! I cannot wait to get back and bring a friend!
