A Re-visit to The Tudor's Table Setting at Macy's NYC

On Saturday I finally made it back to the city after a few months away. Felt really good to see that skyline again, it never gets old and always brings a smile to my face. The day was to be gorgeous and after the chill in the morning, my teeth were chattering, it got very nice. I was just thrilled to be there to take some new photos and show those following the blog different areas of the city. I really love photography for the reason you can capture a moment in time and have it forever.

So I went to Macy's for their flower show. They also had an exhibit for The Tudors which last season premiere is tonight in the US. I just love this show. It is a great way to learn history and enjoy it at the same time. For the fashion people out there, the costumes are gorgeous. It is amazing how they can recreate that time period.
they had a really fabulous display with lots of large photos
jonathan rhys meyers is much cuter than the real Henry
the real Henry
the wonderful table setting display made me want to sit right down and have a bite to eat!!
takes you back in time with dinner with Henry the 8th around 1535
very healthy fruits.....
and vegetables were available
cheese and fruit for dessert....seems healthy enough ......

The 2011 Macy's Flower Show saw a Borgias table setting and you can check out my post HERE

Showtime seems to know how to make these period pieces which I just love. The storylines, the costumes and the scenery is always so over-the-top, I just j'adore it! You can rent both of these shows on DVD if you missed them when they aired and if you have an interest in this type of history, I highly suggest you see them very soon!
did I say how gorgeous it was? oh yeah, just a gorgeous day in NYC !!

My Favorite 2010 Macy's Tablescape "Butterfly Meadow" by Lenox

I have saved the best for last. This display just blew my mind! The colors, butterflies, so different and just gorgeous! The table setting is by Lenox and called Butterfly Meadow which was introduced in 1999. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did and that the photos take you to Macy's for one last time. Remember if you are planning a trip to the city next year, this is a great stop - check Macy's website for 2011 dates.

how gorgeous is this??
looks like you could serve Afternoon Tea here !!
the lighting was so tricky here for some reason
never fails with the one that is a favorite
do you think this deserves to be the winner, if there would be one?
loved the idea of the dishes on her gown!!
great pastels for spring
this was so great as well hanging from the wall
my favorite flowers

Macy's at Herald Square "Spring is in the Air" 2010 Flower Show

We are going to start on the ground floor of Macy's for this flower show. When you walk in, the smell is just amazing! It says "spring is here" 100 times over. So the first thing I really wanted to do was get a coffee and something to eat since it was 10am. I headed to Starbucks on the main floor after I found the flower show program guide. Since I am a huge fan of Rafael Nadal, who is from Mallorca....here is a shot of him I took at the 2009 US Open:

such a cutie and great player.....very professional as well... I had to try this:

Mallorca Sweet Bread.....interesting I thought and the name got me

I wasn't going to get it but since I would be walking alot that day and I never had one...I did. It was very good. A sweet type bread with powdered sugar. Just what I needed to begin the flower show photographs!!!

at the Broadway entrance is a hot air balloon with an old fashioned wicker basket filled with flowers that spans 12 feet in diameter and is over 16 feet tall

the flowers up close....they smelled so wonderful and the colors were amazing

I loved this light with the butterflies....the lighting in the store was so hard to take shots but I did get this one, finally!!

the store really looked so beautiful

one of the sales associates told me they are sad when it is taken down

because it brings such cheer to them even working there

can you easily see why??

Michael Kors had the Woodland Garden...so pretty

Chanel had the Miniature Garden

complete with a bridge and balloons flying high

the Coach area looked amazing...flowers and purses

each spot was more beautiful than the next

more next post.........

Macy's Herald Square 2010 Flower Show

Macy's in Herald Square has been a shopping institution since 1902. It is one of the last turn-of-the-century department stores in existence. I have to admit, I love the Thanksgiving parade and one of these days I would love to see it live but I normally am a Bloomingdales person myself. I decided to attend their annual flower show this year as did visit it many years ago. Let's just say, I will be going back to actually shop a bit as didn't have time with checking out the flower show and taking shots galore!! The shoe department was very scary. I had to leave quickly as a sale was going on and I saw too many great little shoes calling my name!!!

The store is transformed into a flower wonderland. This year's show features 10 different garden environments with over 30,000 varieties of trees, flowering plants and lots of color. You can take free guided tours which I thought was a nice touch or just walk around on your own. I decided to go it alone as they have a program guide on the main floor which tells you were all the displays are located, the store is very big so this is a good idea!! My goal was to arrive 1st thing in the morning before the crowds really got heavy. For those who like table settings, they have some great ones and I took shots of all for you to see. This will be quite a few posts as there were many shots taken and lots to see. So sit back, have a latte and maybe a biscotti and enjoy the flower show. Spring is in the Air !!!

it was a gorgeous day

they have a lot of windows

I liked the handbags promoting the flower show

I was very well behaved and didn't purchase any!!

flower jewelry

what would we do without handbags??

such a great accessory

did someone say shoes?? Donald J Pliner .....which are soo great!!

the windows were so springy!!

all roses for Chloe'

great window for The Adams Family ...Nathan Lane is such a talent!!

more windows tomorrow.....Macy's is a huge store therefore has a lot of windows to showcase this flower show........stay tuned......
