Sunday at the Met: A Conversation on the Evolution of Chic with Iris Apfel, Tavi Gevinson, and Judith Thurman

I am very excited to announce that I will be covering this amazing event next Sunday at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I would highly suggest if you are in the city, and you have a fondness for fashion, this should be top on your "to do" list. I am looking forward to a great conversation between these 2 icons of fashion, and what great perspectives from a 90 year old and a 16 year old!!

Sunday at the Met: A Conversation on the Evolution of Chic
with Iris Apfel, Tavi Gevinson, and Judith Thurman

When: Sunday, June 17, 2:00–3:30 p.m.

What: Sunday at the Met -- Good Taste/Bad Taste: The Evolution of Contemporary Chic

Join style icon Iris Apfel (age 90) and fashion blogger Tavi Gevinson (age 16) for a conversation across generations on what it means to be chic in the 21st century, moderated by New Yorker writer Judith Thurman, who wrote the introduction to the exhibition catalogue Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations. This program is held in conjunction with the Costume Institute exhibition, which is on view at the Met through August 19, 2012.

This event is free with museum admission.

Where: The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Fifth Avenue at 82nd Street
The Grace Rainey Rogers Auditorium

Today's Words of Wisdom:

Iris Apfel:  "I can't tell people how to have style. No amount of money can buy you style. It's just instinctive."

Tavi Gevinson: The Bloggers vs. Editors! thing is tired. If there was a real competition, editors wouldn't be willing to give bloggers press. Blogs and magazines are good for different things; it's like comparing apples with oranges. Collaboration, not competition. Always!

That Tavi Gevinson deserves her gray hair ! How can one be so wise and articulate at that age ? I wish I were in New-York for that conference ; who do you cover it for ? x
