The Metropolitan Museum of Art
Museums are one of
the most fabulous choices to visit when you travel to New York City. You will find some of the best museums in the world in this top-notch city. This post is always one of my most popular each year, because there are so many museum choices
for the traveler. This is by no means a complete list, but a list of the
exhibits I feel you should not miss in 2014. The list will be updated
throughout the year, as some of the museums do not list all their exhibits
immediately. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions about
viewing any of these places, I will try to answer or find the answer for you. I
would also advise you to check the museum’s website for dates they may offer
free admission or reduced admission.
This listing is not all the exhibits at each museum, some have too many to list, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, but these are the exhibits I feel should not be missed. If you click on the museum name, it will take you directly to their website.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute galleries will reopen on May 8, 2014 after a two-year renovation, reconfiguration, and updating. The redesigned space will also include: the Carl and Iris Barrel Apfel Gallery, which will orient visitors to The Costume Institute’s exhibitions and holdings; a state-of-the-art costume conservation center; an expanded study/storage facility that will house the combined holdings of the Met and the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection (which was transferred to the Met in 2009); and The Irene Lewisohn Costume Reference Library, one of the world’s foremost fashion libraries. The Costume Institute was last refurbished in 1992.

Wow, Rosemary! What a service you provide to your readers. I only wish I could get to NYC this year. Whenever that day comes, I know who to turn to for information.
I wouldn't know where to start on your list -- perhaps the Fashion Inst. or the Moving Image one. Nice!!
Great job!
My favorite post of the year! Thanks, Rosemary!
A 2014 trip to NY in the offing! I will certainly keep my eye on your blog - hopefully you will provide some handy hints/tips of the inexpensive/freebie kind - for the less than wealthy traveller from across the Atlantic....!
Oh Bella good for you! I think you will fall in love with her for sure! Lots to do for free as well, sent you the link for my NYC on a Budget post. Maybe we should re-post that for the new year! Thanx for stopping by!!
This is a great reminder of all the cultural institutions we have in NYC! Thank you and happy new year!
Yes Nubia for sure and I didn't even mention all of them! Happy New Year to you and your family!!
NYC has so many Museums to see. It would be nice to visit the Natural Museum, the Frick, MOMA and of course the MET. Thanks for these information. I hope you have a wonderful week.
I would love to see the Jean Paul Gaultier exhibition. NICE LIST!
