Mariebelle New York at The Pierre Hotel

Mariebelle New York at the Pierre Hotel (Photo Credit: Mariebelle New York)

How is it June already ? This year is flying by for sure, but I have some wonderful chocolate news to share with you. One of my favorite chocolate shops, Mariebelle New York, has opened a boutique in the historic Pierre Hotel on 5th Avenue. I have had the pleasure of visiting the Soho chocolate shop but this location will be easier for me to visit more often.

Mariebelle New York Chocolates are as tasty as they are beautiful. You almost do not want to eat them! Her hot or cold cocoa is a classic New York treat and should be tasted by all. Please note the info on the shop hours and if you are in the location, drop by. You will not be disappointed, they make great gifts for family, friends or just for you. We all need fabulous chocolate in our lives.

The iconic Pierre Hotel this season continues to be the place to indulge in the exquisite world of MarieBelle Chocolates.

Expanding from the popular shop in Soho, the famed chocolate house now serves customers on the Upper East Side Monday to Friday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at 2 East 61st Street at the latest luxury boutique.

The Pierre on Fifth Avenue provides a perfect setting for the highly desirable sweets made by the world-famous chocolatier. Since 1930, the hotel has been revered as a quintessential monument to New York City grandeur. Shoppers will find for purchase at the boutique prestigious selections of gift boxes in a perfect sophisticated setting.

About Mariebelle New York:

MarieBelle New York founder and CEO Maribel Lieberman was born and raised near the cacao fields of Honduras and, as a young girl, she made and sold sweets to the local community. She emigrated to the U.S. and studied at The Parsons School of Design where she developed her innate sensibility for luxury goods, fine food and elegant fashion, she launched her entrepreneurial career in the 1990s with Maribel Gourmet Cuisine, a catering enterprise serving high-profile clients, U.S. Diplomats, and a U.S. President. In October 2000, Maribel opened the doors of her first retail shop, Lunettes Et Chocolat. This was an eclectic boutique offering designer eyewear and handmade chocolates.

Shortly after in 2001, Maribel opened MarieBelle New York in Soho. MarieBelle NY quickly gained a loyal following from local and international customers with discerning palettes. Word made it to Oprah about MarieBelle NY and her unparalleled Aztec Hot Chocolate, which she announced as one of her "favorite things.” From these beginnings. MarieBelle NY is recognized as a top chocolate house with stores in New York and Japan.

A Trip to Chocolat Michel Cluizel

In keeping with my Christmas theme in June, who has rules anyway! My trip to Michel Cluizel on Madison Avenue was another joy. They have the most amazing chocolates and gift ideas for those who find chocolate an obsession! I popped in during the holidays to enjoy their hot chocolate, and I must say, it hit the spot. This location on Madison Avenue tends to not be full of tourists which I love and has small tables to sit and enjoy your chocolate fix. You can find coffee here as well as other fantastic desserts and it is just a small walk from my favorite Morgan Library and Museum. If you have not visited here yet, please add to your "to do" list. It will not disappoint.

Fun Shopping at Piq in Grand Central

Grand Central Terminal has so many different areas, and I tend to be in the same one all the time. When I was recently in the city, I was in another area and found this very cool shop titled Piq . I laughed my whole way walking through the store. I love these kind of places, the kind that just make you happy from ear to ear. They do sell products online, and ship, so be warned if you go on their website. Let's take a peek inside:
Loved this pillow, what a great gift it would make for someone!
These cards just cracked me right up. I think the next time I am in the city, I need to get a few to frame and put around my house. Would cause laughter each time, which is so good for the soul!

Everyone has been looking for a hamburger coin purse, right?
I could not include this one!
Remember these guys? I was also happy that they did not mind me taking photos, but I did say I would be doing a blog post about their shop. It's so much easier when everyone plays nice!
These bags are great as they fold up into that small pouch and you can carry in your purse for when needed. They hold quite a bit of stuff, up to 44lbs!

If you are in the Grand Central Terminal, find this store! It is near the 42nd Street entrance, and their is also one in Rockefeller Center as well. We need more stores like this that make us laugh and just giggle the whole time we are there!

Wonderful Mother's Day Gifts from Palais des Thés

The Colors of Tea is a collection of eight gift-ready lacquered metal canisters filled with the brand’s best-selling signature flavored blends. Each tea is inspired by a moment of pleasure, such as a hot bath in Istanbul (Thé du Hammam), the delicate scent of cherry trees in Kyoto (Fleur de Geisha), or an intimate Buddhist ceremony in Tibet (Thé des Moines).
Brightly colored and stackable, each reusable box pays tribute to the origins and inspiration behind the tea inside (3.5oz/100g whole leaf loose tea - $21 each).

As many of you know, I am a big tea lover as well as coffee addict. With Mother's Day just around the corner, (where did the time go!!),  Palais des Thés has some FABULOUS items for that special Mom. My Mom has been in ill health since 2013, has been doing better this year. Last Mother's Day she was in a rehab facility, so I am really hoping to enjoy the day with her at home this year. We really have to treat our Mom's well, they are the most solid person you will ever meet. They always root for you no matter what happens. My Mom and I both really love the teas from  Palais des Thés as they are very unique blends. I am on a lychee kick, and was thrilled to try the one in the Indulgence Tea Sets. I am also a BIG fan of Rooibos tea, if you have never tried it, be sure to do so.

Below are some lovely  ideas for that special Mom on the day that we celebrate her:

If your usual go-to gift is a bouquet of fragrant roses, a fresh fruit basket, or a home-baked pie, Palais des Thés proposes a fresh option: the Indulgence Tea Sets. Three new themed gift boxes - “Les Floraux,”“Les Fruités,” and “Les Gourmands,” each includes five all-natural flavored teas to indulge the senses with floral, fruity and sweet treat flavors.

Perfect for mothers who are tea-connoisseurs and novices alike, these sets are also an ideal way to treat yourself, for example with floral Thé des Sables with Damas Rose, to remind you of your best spring and summer memories; or with fruity Thé des Alizés with white peach and watermelon; or maybe with Mélange du Cap, a delicious Rooibos tea with splinters of cocoa and vanilla pods.
Each box contains five tubes of whole leaf tea (60g-2.1oz, $29). Each tube contains enough tea to brew a 6-8 cup pot. (12g/0.4oz per tube).

Perfect for gifts or to enjoy oneself are two new exceptional blends of high quality classic teas paired with the purest natural extracts:

Evoking summer in the South of France, Pure Indulgence Lavender is a magnificent green Oolong tea from China combined with fresh lavender, whose uplifting fragrance spices up the tea’s plant notes. (3.5oz/100g refillable loose tea canister $19.50)

Pure Indulgence Cinnamon is a deliciously novel pairing that combines an amazing great Chinese Pu Erh with subtle, sweet cinnamon for an exceptional blend.

Pu Erh increases its quality with age. These teas are widely renowned in traditional Chinese medicine for its curative properties.(3.5oz/100g refillable loose tea canister $19.50)

All products are available online at palaisdesthes.com (for shipping to U.S. and Canada) and in both of the brand’s New York City boutiques: 156 Prince Street, SoHo and 194 Columbus Avenue, Upper West Side.

Disclosure: I received  the Cinnamon Tea canister and a set of the Indulgence Teas for this review. The opinions expressed here are completely my own based on my own experience with this product. I only recommend products and/or services that I have personally used and feel will be of interest to my readers.
