Afternoon Tea in Felt Art

I had the pleasure of visiting felt artist Lucy Sparrow's exhibit in 2019 Lucy's Delicatessen on 6th and was totally blow away! I must say this post is in no way an ad but I needed to show you the wonderful art she has for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee! I found Lucy on Instagram and was so thrilled to see the exhibit in New York City a few years ago. When I walked through it, I just smiled from ear to ear. I totally feel in this time, with so much going on in the world, we need something to make us smile. Lucy's felt art does just that, and I have been ordering more items from her online store for my collection.

Queen Elizabeth II has celebrated her Platinum Jubilee this weekend, 70 years on the British throne, more than any other British monarch. I do follow the royal family and it's history which I find fascinating. Lucy's current project is that of an Afternoon Tea in felt art. I was totally blown away so had to order immediately! The items are just so sweet and make you smile from ear to ear! After I had ordered, I found out she was going to be having an exhibit at the grand entrance of Buckingham Palace which is open to the public July 22, 2022 to October 2, 2022. If you happen to be in England during this time, I highly suggest you visit. You will not be disappointed. Now on to the inspect the art !

The lovely little guys are sitting on a 3 tier cake plate from Royal Albert. The top consists of a Victoria Sponge Slice, quiche and French fancy yellow.

Does this not make you smile ?? Sausage rolls, half scones with cream/jam, bakewell tart bottom layer: salmon sandwich, cinnamon roll (from another of her collections seemed to fit in here), Viennese swirl, jammie dodger and a black and white cookie from another collection.

The tea cup with saucer is actually a real tea cup and saucer that the felt has been molded around. It is just so lovely and I added a lemon slice on the side. The tea cup comes off the saucer.

I hope you have enjoyed seeing these wonderful pieces of art that are made with such love and detail. I will be adding more of Lucy's art to my home as it just really makes for a pleasant day! You can check our her website and follow her work on Instagram. If you do not purchase anything, but just look at the art work, it will still bring you so much joy. I think that is so what is needed in the world right now. I must thank Lucy for her wonderful work and her talent that we all have the privilege to enjoy!!

The 10 Must Try Desserts in NYC

There are so many great desserts in New York City. The obviously famous Cronut is not on my list. I figured everyone knows about that one. I wanted to pick my personal favorites, that I just really think are so worth the calories. The dessert you will go back home and tell your friends about, that you will still dream about a month after you have enjoyed it. There are so many talented pastry chefs in New York City, and we are lucky enough that they are willing to share their creations with us. What a wonderful life we live. In no particular order, as that would be impossible:
  •  Breads Bakery -  Chocolate Babka - The most mind-blowing babka you will ever enjoy. It is life changing and they now ship which is so very fantastic!
  •  Bouchon Bakery - Nutter Butter Cookie - Thomas Keller is pure genius and his nutter butters make you smile from ear to ear. I love peanut butter and these are one of my faves to bring home.
  •  Doughnut Plant - Tres Leche Donut - This doughnut was produced like the cake, 3 milks, and is really oh so worth the investment. Words cannot describe and they should be in every city.
  •  Baked by Melissa - Cupcakes and Macarons  - Mini desserts are the best, you can try a few different flavors and not get sick and they are great for parties. They ship the cupcakes and macarons direct to your home or they make a fabulous gift.
  •  Pop Bar    - Gelato on a stick - If you love ice cream, gelato is the next level. This is quite fantastic and great for young and old to indulge.
  •  Breads Bakery -  Chocolate Rugelach - Another life changing item from Breads Bakery, they need to be on every block in the city. This rugelach is so wonderful, soft and fresh, like I have never had before.
  •  Lady M - Green Tea Crepe Cake - A crepe cake is like nothing you have ever tasted. Light, fluffly, not overly sweet but oh so good for the tummy. They do ship as well which would make for a unique birthday cake celebration.
  • Jacques Torres -  Chocolate Covered Cheerios- Jacques Torres makes some wonderful chocolate items, but the chocolate covered cheerios are number 1 in my book. So. Much. Fun.
  • Levain Bakery -  Any of the Cookies  - These are heaven on earth, and they freeze well if you wish to take a dozen home. I usually cut them in half and freeze that way. They offer shipping from their website right to your door as well.
  • Veniero's -  Cannoli - The best cannoli I have had so far in the city, with either vanilla or chocolate ricotta filling, oh so darn good. They also dip the shells in chocolate as well, for that little extra touch. A wonderful institution in the East Village which should be on that bucket list.
What is your favorite dessert in New York City ?

Easter at Financier Patisserie

We are at our friends at Financier Patisserie and what fabulous Easter treats they have for you! I can never get enough of this lovely place, it is so fabulous to visit in the city. A very classy pastry shop with quality products and prices that are just right.
How adorable is this bunny? I may feel guilty eating him, but I think I would get over it very quickly!
I see the bunny's belly, do you? These are some of the most adorable bunnies I have ever seen! Would look great in a Easter basket for sure!

These little mini cakes are fabulous for Easter dinner. As we know, not everyone likes the same flavors, so this makes it a hit with everyone!

These are the mini desserts which are so wonderful! They are also nice if you just want a little something sweet after dinner. A great hostess gift!!
An up close of the mini desserts !
Tiramisu is good any holiday including Easter Sunday!!

This cake was just so beautiful and sounded even better! These are not the type of cakes you will make at home, but are so nice to take to parties or when having a special dinner.
I would feel bad cutting into this cake for a few minutes.
Financier's Easter cake is just amazing. The chocolate smell alone makes you just smile and do a happy dance!
Gianduja Chocolate Nest 7"
Moist Macaron , Chocolate Cream , Chunk of Nougatine Praline, Gianduja Mousse, Birds Nest Like Finishing
This is the cake after we cut it. I cannot tell you how amazing this is. Words cannot really describe but I will try. Not over the top sweet. The flavors all blend together in such a beautiful way. The chocolate nest on top is so delicate, and smells like the chocolate river in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. (yes, that is one of my favorite films, both versions)
I have to thank Financier Patisserie for this lovely cake. They not only make fabulous food, they are some of the nicest people you will ever meet.
You can order any items on their website , and pick up in any of their 10 locations in the city. I think this lovely cake would make a perfect ending to your Easter dinner! Please let me know if you have visited Financier Patisserie, and if not, let me know when you do while in the city. It is really a place to not be missed. You know I would never steer you the wrong way!!

Cafe Valley Dr Pepper Cake Review

I was contacted by Cafe Valley to try their new Dr. Pepper cake, and  I couldn't turn down that opportunity! I remember my Mom making my birthday cakes with soda inside, and they were always so darn moist and tasty!

The new cake will join an array of soda cakes including 7UP®, Orange Crush®, and A&W Root Beer™. The new flavor will be available in grocers nationwide in June with a suggested retail price of $5.99 per package.
The cake is quite wonderful, fabulous for parties and the office. The price is very reasonable, and easy to pick up more than one! Just look at that icing! I love drizzle icing because it's not too sweet with the cake. This ring cake is their flagship product, and you can tell.
The cake itself is really very good, so moist and not too sweet. The Dr. Pepper flavor is not overwhelming, just the right amount.

Made with real Dr Pepper, the soda cake is exploding with the spicy taste of the popular soft drink made from a unique blend of 23 flavors.

You can check in your area who carries these cakes on Cafe Valley website.

"Our partnership with Dr Pepper will guarantee consumers the real, genuine soda taste, just as delicious as our other fun soda cake flavors," said Brian Owens, chief executive officer of Café Valley. "This cake features premium ingredients and the high-quality taste our customers have come to expect. We look forward to bringing the latest delightful flavor and enjoyable experience home to your family."
