Throwback Thursday " Downton Abbey The Exhibition NYC"

One of my favorite shots taken at the Downton Abbey Exhibition last year in New York City. It really was one of the most amazing exhibitions I have ever seen! They are extended in New York City until September 3rd and if you are a fan of the show, I highly suggest you go. I recently popped in the gift shop to see what new items they had since I was there, and they told me the next stop will be Boston.
I did pick up a few necklaces for myself as they were sold out at Christmas time when I was there. It really is a most wonderful delight and something not to be missed!

If you missed my extensive review of the exhibit, you can find them here:

Downton Abbey The Exhibition Gift Shoppe

My posts of the Downton Abbey The Exhibition were so detailed, I forgot to show you what was in the gift shoppe on the way out the door! Here are some items that you can purchase after you are done with the exhibit.
I loved seeing our friends On Location Tours being promoted at the exhibit!
Totally lovely hats available for purchase
Since I was there in December, they had quite a few holiday items like this stocking
British holiday crackers were very fun as well

I would have bought one of the key ornaments but they were not for sale, darn!
They had the full line of Downton Abbey teas from Republic of Tea which you can purchase from their website directly.

Loved this quote

They did have some jewelry and I ended up purchasing a bracelet but was hoping for some of the long necklaces the ladies wore on the show. I was very proud I walked away with only a bracelet!

If you missed my review of the Exhibit itself, you can check out the 4 parts here as there is so much to see, I couldn't do just 1 post. It is a really wonderful exhibit, and on view until April 2, 2018.

Throwback Thursday " The 5th Earl of Carnarvon "

The 5th Earl of Carnarvon (back right) and Carnarvon's then wife, Almina, Countess of Carnarvon (centre) with companions

Since we are in a Downton Abbey theme this week, I felt our Thursday post should stay in the same subject. Truth being, there is so much history with the 5th Earn of Canarvon, we could have a very long post! The 5th Earl, George Herbert, was well known as the financial backer of the search for and the excavation of Tutankhamun's tomb in the Valley of the Kings. He was born at Highclere Castle 1866 and died in Egypt in 1923. I am just fascinated by everything King Tut, and really so enjoyed the Downton Abbey series. If you visit Highclere Castle, you can view a wonderful King Tut exhibit which I am sure will be so amazing!      Were you aware that Highclere Castle was connected to King Tut ? What a small world we live in!

Downton Abbey The Exhibition Part 3

Today we are at Downton Abbey The Exhibition Part 3 which has some pretty cool items. Are you loving it so far? When are you going to NYC to see the exhibit?

I don't know about you, but I loved the character Molesley ! I loved the way they ended his story line by becoming a teacher. He was such a funny guy, and I have watched a few other British shows where the actor has appeared.

I was so hoping for these long necklaces at the gift shop but none were found. These displays were just so darn fantastic!
Ahh, this is what I was picked to be - A Lady's Maid - wonder how I would have liked that? I think I would honestly prefer being the Lady of the House as opposed to The Ladies Maid!
The love story of Anna and Bates was very high level and kept all of us on our toes! I am so glad they had a happy ending.

This was for sure not that exciting as the other girls fashion, but it does look comfy!

This was the outfit worn by Shirley Maclaine when she guest starred on the show.

Downton Abbey The Exhibition Part 2

This second part of the exhibit shows some of the most gorgeous rooms - Mary's bedroom and the Dining Room with the most amazing dining table setting. They really have everything here down to each little detail, feels like you are walking on the set of the show! They did extend this exhibit to April 2, 2018 due to being so popular. I would love to go another time, if I can get there during the weekday.

I loved Matthew's photo on Mary's dresser!

Loved this info about the undergarments in the time period!

This just left me speechless. Totally a wonderful treat for the eyes!

The costumes are just so fantastic to see in person

I loved the different pastel colors here

The beading on these gowns is some true artwork

Upon seeing the ladies designs, you can see how very slight they are

The gentleman's designs were pretty neat as well

I loved all the accessories they had on display, I was a bit disappointed in the items in the gift shop. I did end up purchasing a bracelet as I wanted something from the exhibit.
