Photo Gallery Thursday " Fall 2011 New York City"

It is pumpkin season again! This great shot taken at a floral shop on the Upper East Side was just so colorful to me.....I am a huge fan of pumpkin and baking with it but seems we will be paying more for it this year due to damaged crops with the bad weather. I still will have to make some pumpkin cookies with dark chocolate chips as they are just so yummy! I also love pumpkin roll but haven't tried to make it myself yet. What is your favorite pumpkin dessert?

A West Village 1853 Cottage for Sale !!

Walking along Grove Street in the village, I came across this wonderful cottage. Now I see in one of my New York Magazines it is for sale! I remembered it right away from the photo and cannot imagine being able to live here. Cost is $3.9 million on the Corcoran Group Website, actually down from the cost in my magazine of $4.25 million!
It was originally built in 1842 and has 6 rooms in this wonderful courtyard
You can view the floor plan and more photos on the Corcoran Group website HERE and also a wonderful article from Architectural Digest September 2003 fabulous photos and information HERE. This just gives you an idea of what it would cost to live in a amazing place like this in the West Village.

Photo Gallery Tuesday " Paley Park "

This is another one of those times something just pops up on you. Walking along East 53rd between Madison and Park Avenue I found this cute little place called Paley Park. CBS Founder William S Paley created this 4200 square foot park with it's own waterfall - in 1967 - and the privately owned space still has the original 17 honey locust trees. A great place to sit with a latte and maybe a cuppie, and relax.

Van Cleef and Arpels Window Art

these Van Cleef and Arpels windows are just so amazing....after their exhibit at the Cooper Hewitt, I really have more appreciation for their jewelry making.....so unique .......
these butterflies were just so gorgeous and would be great on a coat or clutch handbag
the decorations in the windows were just as dainty as the jewelry
look at that necklace.....could you imagine that as a gift?
Birds of Paradise this window is called........I can understand why.....
Van Cleef and Arpels have made jewelry for some very famous people such as The Duchess of Windsor, Diana, Princess of Wales, Princess Grace, Elizabeth Taylor, Sophia Loren, Julia Roberts, Ava Gardner and Audrey Hepburn.........
I could see any one of those ladies wearing this necklace
I really loved the decor of the windows, this butterfly was so detailed .....

Van Cleef & Arpels creations**

The history of Van Cleef & Arpels has been marked by a number of milestone creations, the most emblematic of which include:
  • the first watch with a leather strap, made in yellow or white gold (1923);
  • a bracelet depicting red and white roses in bloom, made with diamonds, rubies and emeralds, which was awarded the Grand Prix de l’Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes de Paris – First Prize at the International Exposition of Modern Industrial and Decorative Arts (1925);
  • the Minaudière, a small precious box that can hold a powder compact, lipstick, lighter, or keys, inspired by Florence Jay Gould (1930);
  • the Cadenas (Padlock) wristwatch (1936);
  • the Passe Partout (Take-me-anywhere) bracelet (1939);
  • the round watch with an ultra-slim case, the P.A. 49 (1949);
  • the Zip necklace (1950), which can be opened and closed just like a zip;
  • the Alhambra necklace (1968);
  • the Millénaire (Millennium) clip (2000);
  • the Lotus “between-the-fingers” ring (2001);
  • the Le Songe d’une Nuit d’Été (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) collection (2003);
  • the Couture collection (2004);
  • the Pierres de Caractère (Stones of Character) collection (2005);
  • the Atlantide and Ballet Précieux (Atlantis and Precious Ballet) collections (2007);
  • the Jardins (Gardens) collection (2008);
  • the Féerie (Fairy) perfume (2008);
  • the California Rêverie collection (2009);
  • the Collection Extraordinaire perfume (2010);
  • the Papillons (Butterflies) collection (2010);
  • the Voyages Extraordinaires - Jules Verne collection (2010);
  • the Midnight in Paris perfume (2010).

2010 Chocolate Show New York Maison Boissier

We are roughly less than 2 months away from the 2011 Chocolate Show in New York City! Maison Boissier is one of the great chocolate shops from Paris that attended last year and will be there this year as well. You can check out the list of exhibitors HERE

This chocolate shop from Paris began in 1827 and really had the most beautiful packaging

These were homemade marshmallows! Can you imagine these on top of your hot chocolate?
Here are some chocolate petals......what a great gift this would be to take home to family and friends from the show........

There are exhibitors from Brooklyn, New York to Washington, DC to Paris, France to London, England which I think is really quite fantastic! To be able to sample and purchase from all these great confectioners at one time is just amazing, for a chocolate lover like myself.

I highly suggest purchasing tickets in advance, as you save a bit on the entrance fee and on the Saturday and Sunday dates it gets very busy and may even sell out. I would not take the chance on the weekend to go without a ticket.

Photo Gallery Thursday "Statue of Liberty @ the Brooklyn Flea"

The Brooklyn Flea has just about anything you could think of to purchase. Even the Statue of Liberty. I don't think she would have fit on the bus I took that day, plus not sure what my mom would think bringing this home! She would make a great garden statue....don't you think??

The Muse Hotel Funky Lobby Bathrooms!!

While I was in the city a few weeks ago, I stayed at the Muse Hotel for the first time
I try to tell people when in the city, bathrooms in the lobby of hotels are a good idea because they are always clean. When I arrived, my room wasn't ready but had to pay a visit to the ladies room after a long bus ride. This is the separate sink if you just need to wash your hands or refresh yourself. (love the tile!)
this was my photo inside one of the bathrooms...didn't take very well but still a bit cool in it's own way
they all have different names....
and each one is designed totally different
I felt weird shooting this photos but had to show you and if you are in the area, you can always pop in and use the bathrooms if needed
Which one do you think I went in? What one would you go in?
Who would think going to the ladies/men's room which bring a smile to your face!!
This is the church right across the street, The Church of Saint Mary the Virgin  My full review of the hotel is coming shortly....

Photo Gallery Tuesday " Cannoli Cheesecake"

Okay I really hate to do this to you but this blog has the title of cannoli in it so I must. This is a new cannoli cheesecake from one of my favorite stores Wegmans. I needed something for an event at work and since I needed to try this badly, it was purchased. It was so amazing.....the filling is basically the inside of the cannoli shell, the right kind of filling with ricotta....love the 3 mini guys on the top! It was so amazing....if you live near a Wegmans store, and you like cannoli, this is a must try. They also make them in mini size as well if you feel this larger one is too dangerous. It is very rich so a big piece is not really a good idea.

EOS Ultra Moisturizing Natural Shave Cream

I recently saw an ad for this shaving cream with different scents such as Lavender Jasmine, Vanilla Bliss, Cucumber Melon and Pomegranate Raspberry it really sparked by interest. The great folks at EOS which stands for Evolution of Smooth  sent me the Pomegranate Raspberry to try.

I really like the packaging as it is easy to hold if you are using in the shower plus it is pretty to look at. Here is some information from their website:

It’s made with natural aloe, oat, shea butter and antioxidant vitamins E and C to leave your skin looking radiantly healthy. This non-foaming cream boosts skin’s moisture level and keeps it smooth long after you’re done shaving. It’s so moisturizing, you can shave wet or dry. And eos provides a closer shave, even helping to prevent those little razor bumps. Who knows? You might even look forward to shaving.
  • So moisturizing, you can shave wet or dry, leaving skin soft and smooth.
  • Non-foaming cream enriched with natural aloe, oat, and shea butter soothes while boosting skin's moisture level.
  • Antioxidant vitamins E & C help skin look radiantly healthy.
  • Comes in a soft-touch recyclable bottle that won't leave a rust ring in your tub.
  • Paraben-free.

fragrances

  I really enjoyed trying it very much and the price is really affordable, they can be found in your local CVS or Rite Aid stores...you can check your area availability HERE  or you can purchase online HERE . I love the fact that they do no animal testing and the product is made with all natural ingredients. They also make lip balm, body lotion and hand lotion. I would give the shave cream a try however if you are looking for something a little more gentle and I would say the fragrance free could be used for men as well.

I love the little lip balm as well....so easy to store in your purse, pocket or desk at the office!!
