Magnificent Jewels Christie's April 2015

In April, I had the pleasure of visiting Christie's for their Magnificent Jewels auction. Christie's has this auction every year, and I kept meaning to get there, finally did in 2015. This was a sublime treat for the eyes, and anyone who loves jewelry. These items are the best of the best, from the jewelry houses Graff, Harry Winston, Cartier, JAR, and Tiffany, to name a few. There are over 300 choices to choose from and you can even try something on if you wish. The folks at Christie's are some of the nicest you will find. When you look at these photos, and realize these are real diamonds, rubies, emeralds - you have to shake your head! If money were no object, I think I would treat myself to a few below, not every one, but a rare few, for sure! This sale totaled almost 42 million dollars when it was all said and done. Pretty impressive for Christie's Auction House!
A CORAL, DIAMOND AND EMERALD HORSE BROOCH, BY DAVID WEBB sold for $23,750 US Dollars

A RUBY, PINK SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND FLOWER NECKLACE sold for $75,000 US Dollars
A SAPPHIRE AND DIAMOND NECKLACE, BY GRAFF sold for $377,000 US Dollars

This would have been my choice to take home, if money were no object! Simple, elegant, large diamond necklace This one was sold in their Geneva showroom for $3,087,143 US Dollars
A SPECTACULAR DIAMOND PENDANT
Set with a brilliant-cut diamond, weighing approximately 36.55 carats, to the fine link chain, mounted in gold.
The broach was a wedding gift from King Alfonso XII of Spain to his wife Archduchess Maria Christina of Austria in Nov. 1879. How amazing is this piece. I couldn't find the amount it sold for, which would be very strange if it didn't sell at all. What a piece to add to a collection!

A DIAMOND 'ZIP' NECKLACE, BY VAN CLEEF & ARPELS sold in Geneva showroom for $433,910 US Dollars

Tiffany and Co. diamond necklace sold for $497,000 US Dollars
THE MILLICENT ROGERS HEART: A RUBY, SAPPHIRE, COLORED DIAMOND AND ENAMEL BROOCH, BY PAUL FLATO Sold for $425,000 US Dollars

All these jewels are making me want to do a bit of shopping! What gorgeous pieces, and the oh-so lucky folks who are able to purchase these stunners! Hope you enjoyed your visit to Christie's today!
