Options for Blog Reading minus Google Reader

As most of you know, Google Reader shut down as of July 1, 2013. I myself was sad to see it go because it was an easy way to keep track of all the fabulous blogs I currently read in a fast manner. I thought I would give you some options to use for the blogs you follow and hope you will continue to follow me here as well. I appreciate all of your support, and am excited about where this blog is going in the future. Here are some of your options that are available from the LA Times article HERE:

Bloglovin is said to be the best reader for people's whose focus is looking at photos.
Digg Reader is a simple service that has promised lots of new features. Mobile apps for iOS available, but Android is still on its way. Digg comes from Betaworks, a company with several other start-ups.
Feedly has a clean look and several layout combinations. It's become popular as it has topped the list of many websites reviewing RSS readers. There's tons of ways to share or save articles quickly. Feedly arguably provides the easiest transition from Google Reader.
Flipboard has no web version, so it's best for people with tablets and smartphones only. It's unique in that instead of scrolling, a user "flips" the page to get to the next article.
The Old Reader makes it easy to connect with friends who use the service. However, users can't quickly share articles to outside websites. No official mobile apps.
I personally use Bloglovin, just signed up for The Old Reader and Flipboard is great on my smartphone.
To follow my blog on Bloglovin, just click HERE
You can also follow on Google Plus HERE
You can also import your information from Google Reader to any other service from Google Website :

How can I download my Reader data?

Google Reader will be retired on July 1, 2013. If you'd like to download a copy of all your Reader data before then, you can do so through Google Takeout. You'll receive your subscription data in an XML file, and the following information will be downloaded as JSON files:
  • List of people that you follow
  • List of people that follow you
  • Items you have starred
  • Items you have liked
  • Items you have shared
  • Items shared by people you follow
  • Notes you have created
  • Items with comments
Click here to start downloading your Reader data from Takeout. Once downloaded, your subscription data should be easily transfer to another product, where you can continue to keep up with your online reading.
You can also use Google Takeaway to download your subscriptions and subscribers.
When you download your file, you need to open the file and the file titled "subscriptions" an XML document, is the one you wish to choose. I hope some of this information has helped you and given you some options for reading your favorite blogs. I would also suggest if a blog you enjoy has an email subscription, subscribe that way, you are sure not to miss anything having all posts emailed to you.
