2010 US Open Tennis Player Shots

I can't believe the US Open is already close to 2 months past! It is amazing to me how it goes so quickly but I wanted to share some of my shots of the various players on the tour. Tennis is such an international sport and I root for players from many different countries, not just the USA. There are so many talented players out there from all over the world and their personality also has something to do with why I may follow their career. I also think I learn more history following other players thru tennis as feel the need to research where they are from.......on to the photos shall we .......

Nikolay Davydenko of Russia #6 player in the world - 1st round action shot

Maria Sharapova of Russia #21 in the world - this was a hard shot as I was shooting right into the sun but came out pretty nice I think - I have been shooting Maria since 2003 and the camera just loves her! She is one of the top paid athletes for endorsements, makes perfect sense.

this is one of my favorite shots from the 2004 US Open

Victoria Azanerka from Belarus #10 in the world - the heat really got to her and she collapsed on the court during her 2nd round match - she was okay but very scary moment for her and her fans

she was wearing the Nike dress for Serena Williams who pulled out of the tournament - thought it was a cute outfit as black and white always work -

Daniela Hantuchova #29 in the world from Slovakia warming up before her 1st round match

Ana Ivanovic from Serbia #36 in the world but has won the French Open title - these were during her first round match and the camera did well at night -

her adidas outfit was adorable - loved the color and knew it was to be great to photograph - I sat with some nice people during this match, nice to be solo at the matches as you meet many new people

her shoes deserved their own photo - just looved these !! also by adidas

this is one of the smaller courts which are really great to watch matches - you can't get any closer than this -

the great camera guys who bring us the action - on a hot day like this was, I really felt for them but I think they get used to it -

Ernests Gulbis from Lativa #25 in the world - no he isn't pointing to my camera -

just wanted his towel - I could have touched it I was that close but decided against!

he played Jeremy Chardy of France # 60 in the world - Jeremy beat him and caused an upset in the first round - there were lots of French fans to root him on -

I had to have this guy up as he is from Vienna, Austria - Jurgen Melzer ranked 13 in the world and the only player on the ATP Tour from Austria -

one last shot of Roger and Rafa at the Arthur Ashe Kids Day

I hope you enjoyed my tennis shots and consider attending the 2011 US Open.
This years tournament was one of the most successful in history as Rafa became the 7th male player in history to capture the career Grand Slam, a record 23.6 million in prize money was distributed. For the 4th consecutive year the attendance topped 700,000 - a total of 712,976 visited the tournament. Mark your calendar for August 29 to September 11, 2011 and pay the tournament a visit. It is the place to be in late August in New York.

Rosemary: I feel blessed to have been there for the day on Sept. 1 this year. It was my first time back in 20 years. The new stadium is amazing ... and I was pleased to find that even though the venue is large, it felt very manageable and intimate. Your pictures are fantastic, as was this year's tournament. Thank you for sharing.
