Mardi Gras Macarons at Sucre' Bakery

As I have mentioned before, Twitter has become a very big part of this blog. If you are not following me on Twitter, can you do so HERE. It is a real flourish of amazing companies and new products to be found. I came across Sucre' Bakery on Twitter. When I heard they made Mardi Gras macarons with a king cake filling, I knew it was a slow amount of time before I had to order them. I also loved the fact that their prices did not break the bank, and you can get a box of 15 for about $30.00.
the packaging is just beautiful and makes a great gift as well
king cake mousseline - three wonderful words

they travel pretty well as they sit in a plastic tray to keep them from moving around. we had few broken but most of the 15 were in good condition.
my first thought was how darn gorgeous the colors were. the filling is purple and they looked great in this heart ceramic dish my mom made many, many years ago
the flavor is hard to explain but it is the most amazing I have ever had. the outside has a sheen to sparkle to them which is really beautiful. they really just melt in your mouth.
so have you gone to their website yet to order? I can totally understand as I am sure we will be ordering their regular flavors sometime soon again. Sucre' Bakery knows how to bake and bake well. If I ever travel to New Orleans, this place will be number 1 on my to visit list. Make it yours as well !!

Macaron Day March 20, 2015

Macaron Day was created not only to promote the colorful & delicious Parisian cookie,
but to also help raise money & awareness for an important charity. All participating
Macaron Day NYC  will be donating a portion of the day's macaron sales to City Harvest.
While each bakery will be handing out 1 free macaron per person, we hope that after you
take your bite, you won't be able to resist buying a few more! Macarons are great gifts for
friends, family, or simply yourself! Not only are they raising awareness about the decadent
& delicate Parisian cookie, but are helping to contribute to the efforts of City Harvest.

Founded in 1982 as the world’s first food rescue organization, City Harvest is dedicated to
helping feed the more than 1.4 million New Yorkers facing hunger.  City Harvest will collect
50 million pounds of excess food from restaurants, grocers, bakeries, manufacturers, and farms,
and deliver it free of charge to more than 500 community food programs across the city this year.

In addition to helping meet the immediate need for food, City Harvest takes a long-term
approach to fighting hunger by partnering with residents, local organizations and businesses
through Healthy Neighborhoods programs which increase the availability of affordable fruits
and vegetables in low-income communities and provide the nutrition education and
resources to maintain a wholesome, food-secure diet.

You can check out all the great participants HERE on the Macaron Day website!! I think I am actually
going to be in the city this day, so I will try to take advantage of the free macarons, and purchase a few
as well for the City Harvest project. It is so nice to enjoy some fabulous dessert and help out a great
cause as well!!

La Maison du Chocolat in New York City

La Maison du Chocolat is one of my favorites in NYC! My first french macarons were tasted here, which made me appreciate them such a great deal. A very different macaron from our American version.
La Maison du Chocolat is a luxury chocolate company located in the French commune of Nanterre, to the west of Paris, which actuates about 30 stores in the metropolitan areas of Paris, Cannes, London, New York City, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Is this chocolate tart not amazing? Love the mini version.
This is the lovely location in Rockefeller Center, Christie's is right across the street. A nice stop for a little something and a rest of your feet from walking all day.
The cold drinks they have here during the summer are some of the best you will ever taste.
I think you would be very well loved if you brought this to a party.
Adorable heart chocolates
Mendiant - Dark or Milk chocolate filled with almond, hazelnut, pistachio, raisin and orange peel
$76.00 per pound BUT oh so worth it !!
I did say I loved their cold drinks, didn't I ? They use their own fabulous ice cream to make these amazing refreshments. I would highly recommend if you are in the city during the summer months. The hot drinks are good too, since the cold season is upon us.
How could you not love this display? I expected them to start talking to me any second!
What a lovely collection here! They have quite a few locations in the city, you can check their website HERE for locations.

A Visit to LA Burdick Chocolate Shop in the Flatiron District

I had the chance to visit the city in June, and meet with my friend Paula Burdick, who owns LA Burdick Chocolate Shop and Cafe.  Paula is one of the nicest folks you will meet, and I wanted to see what was new in the shop.
The place is just so darn cozy! I love the decor and the way it just makes you feel at home when you walk in the door.
They are a great stop in between shopping at Kate Spade, Michael Kors and Brooks Brothers nearby. A lovely place to rest those feet, have a tasty drink and a little something sweet!!
Luxembourgers (French Macarons)
Hand-piped tender meringues filled with all-natural flavored buttercreams, including chocolate, coffee, pistachio, raspberry, cinnamon, almond-citrus and pumpkin. They are on our Best Macaron list for New York City, in case you were not aware !!
Somehow, a chocolate croissant ended up right on my table!!
Here are those amazing french macarons! If you have never tried one, you must! They are so light and flavorful, a real treat to the palate.
How gorgeous is this latte art? I would feel guilty drinking this to be honest !!
This is what a table in heaven would look like! Words cannot describe what is going on here so I will let the photo do the job !
Their packaging is lovely and their chocolate makes a great gift to bring home to family and friends.
A really refreshing drink during these hot summer days, a lemon berry spritzer.
Everything here makes a very perfect, and original gift for family and friends back home. The items are also fabulous for business clients and customers.

This chocolate chip and ginger cake is 2 great flavors in one bite.
Chocolate Cigars are great for that man in your life. I really loved the unique box they came in.
Another unique item, I am a huge lover of any kind of nut so I would be thrilled with this assortment!!
The cappuccino here is pretty top rate.
Burdick's chocolate bars are made from the same fine chocolate couvertures we cook with. A chocolate bonbon is only as good as the chocolate used in its recipe - the same is true for bars. The Burdick blends, perennial favorites, can be ordered with or without nuts. The health bars incorporate nuts, dried fruits and seeds thought to be high in antioxidants. The single source bars demonstrate specific bean characteristics - the experience of terroir. All are gastronomically complex. Order individually or in sets.
This is what we all dream of enjoying after a day of shopping and walking in the flatiron district!!
Who would not love this birthday cake? A layered chocolate cake with rich ganache of dark chocolate and raspberry. They can write anything on this cake you wish. I love the touch of the little mouse decoration.

Francois Payard at The Plaza Food Hall

One of my most favorite places is The Plaza Food Hall and FP Patisserie by Francois Payard
These would make great gifts for family and friends OR for yourself, of course !!
For the warmer months, they have ice cream sandwiches that are anything but ordinary. Brownie with vanilla and coconut mango were my favorites.
The french macarons here are some of the BEST you will ever taste. A good place to pick up one if you are trying them for the first time.
The apricot rosemary flavor is unique, but it does work.
I am not a fan of strawberry, but this tart looks beautiful. Strawberries are very photogenic as that red color and glaze on top just pops out of the picture.
A sweet little mini lemon tart
I always call French pastries Works of Art because they are so pleasing to the eye.....and the palate.
These little mini's are great to share with someone, or a few friends, just to sample some of these amazing treats

My Aunt loved eclairs and she would have gone crazy for these flavors.
Like the iconic palace in France, the Louvre is one of Francois' signature Payard pastries and a best seller from the very beginning. It's classic dome shape in the 4-10 pp size and gold leaf and chocolate decorations accent this beautiful work of art. Enrobed in a chocolate glaze is chocolate mousse and hazelnut mousse layered with a hazelnut dacquoise over a hazelnut wafer.
The selection of candies available by Francois Payard
Mr. Payard himself at work at the 2010 New York Chocolate Show and it was a great experience to see him at work in person.

Many locations in the city, for those who love desserts, this is the place to visit in NYC !!
