Sweet, Hot & Spicy Pop Up Grand Bazaar

For any of you that may be in the city this Sunday, our friends at The Grand Bazaar are having a cool event with Sweet, Hot & Spicy foods! I would highly recommend a stop here if you are to be in the city this Sunday!

New York, NY - February 21, 2022 - A special one-day-only Sweet, Hot & Spicy Pop-up will take place on Sunday, February 27th, 2022 at Grand Bazaar NYC (100 W. 77th Street) from 10am – 5pm.  Grand Bazaar NYC is the city’s oldest, largest, and most diverse curated weekly shopping market, with up to 150 vendors featured each week. The purpose-driven weekly market organizes different special-themed events, highlighting both new and established independent local artists, designers, craft-makers, vintage and antique dealers, and artisanal food entrepreneurs. Annually over 900 merchants are brought in to create unique experiences for visitors every time they stop by. The vendors are selected based upon the weekly theme, the quality of craftsmanship, and how distinctive and rare their offerings are.

These wonderful photos were provided by the nice folks at The Grand Bazaar ! Everything looks so amazing ! This is going to be an excellent event!

This Sunday, visitors can get an endorphin rush from the over 20 artisanal food vendors that are spicing and sweetening up the “mid-winter” blues. Some of the participating food vendors in this year’s Sweet, Hot & Spicy Pop-up include Jamaican heat from Treat YourSelf Jerk, addictive Korean corn dogs from ClubDog, burning Indian curries from Mysttik Masaala, hot Taiwanese popcorn chicken and fish from Taiwanese Yummy, fiery empanadas from Empanada Papa, handcrafted in small-batches artisanal hot sauces from Hattwood Hot Sauce, and bold Brooklyn-made hot sauces from Cantina Royal. On the sweet side, there will be The Boiis with handcrafted mochi stuffed dessert bites, Althea’s Tropical Delights bringing cakes with the sweet taste of the Caribbean, BITE’s creative artisanal mini donuts, Culiraw with full-flavor and decadent raw vegan cakes, and Broma’s protein-packed and flavored almond + lentil + chocolate butter spreads. In addition, visitors can explore and shop from over 70 independent artists, designers, and vintage dealers.

Grand Bazaar NYC was created to provide funding to four Upper West Side public schools and to support small independent local merchants and entrepreneurs. Every time a vendor commits to selling their goods at the market, the schools PS 87, The Computer School, PS 334, and M.S. M247 Dual Language Middle School benefit. 100% of the net profits from the rental of a booth benefit over 2,000 public school children by providing them with much-needed school supplies, books, art enrichment, and sports programs.

Grand Bazaar NYC is located at 100 W. 77th Street at Columbus Avenue. The market is open every Sunday from 10am – 5pm. For more information visit, www.GrandBazaarNYC.org.

Grand Bazaar Opening June 6, 2021

Happy Monday everyone! Wonderful news to report that the fantastic Grand Bazaar on the Upper West Side is reopening June 6th. This awesome market has indoor and outdoor vendors but I believe they will be just starting with the outdoor for now, they do have a very big space for the vendors. The market donates 100% of it's proceeds to local public schools, which it has done since it's inception founded as the Green Flea in 1982. The name changed to Grand Bazaar in 2016.

This was actually one of the last places I visited when in the city February 2020 before everything locked down. Little did I know at the time, I would not be back wandering around the best city in the world for over a year!

You can find a wonderful array of items here - vintage jewelry, handbags, local artists and designers. On a gorgeous weather day on a Sunday, it is the perfect place to be. Here are some of the cool items I have seen while visiting the Grand Bazaar.

Just love these coats !!

They normally have food but not sure when that will be back this year
These were quite heavenly

Gorgeous handbags as I do collect them you know
New or vintage usually catch my eye

Vintage Jewelry to blow your mind

I purchased one of the initial necklaces for $15 and have been seeing almost the same item on Nordstrom website for much more money

I wanted these glasses in the worst way but wasn't sure I could get them home in one piece

Be sure to add this fantastic place on your NYC to do list !! A great way to spend a lazy Sunday in the city!

Upper West Side Spotlight: Grand Bazaar NYC

A gorgeous Sunday in the city, spent on the Upper West Side and a sweet view of the Museum of Natural History. Very close to the museum is one of my favorite places to shop for unique gift, The Grand Bazaar. They just celebrated their 3rd Anniversary yesterday, and I feel they will be celebrating many more to come. This market is where you will find vintage items as well as many items made by artisans, they are very particular about the vendors that are showcased here. Some of the markets in the city have become so expensive the smaller businesses cannot afford to display their items for sale. Along with finding some cool products, this market is also the funding source for 4 public schools in the surrounding area. Profits benefit over 2,000 school children providing them with items such as art programs, books, supplies.

Any time I can shop for unique products, one of a kind, support small business and children, it is a win-win situation. Here are some items I found last week and I have their listing of shows for the rest of the year. Please stop by if in the area on a Sunday, they have food stands as well if you wish to get a bite to eat while shopping.

These were coasters made to look like records. Such a fun gift for yourself or a friend.
During the winter months, they do have items indoors as well

Visiting the Brooklyn Flea

A few weeks ago, I finally headed to the Brooklyn Flea ......it had been on my "to do" list for ages so glad to scratch this off the list....this was my view from the bus heading to Brooklyn

I am really thrilled they also opened a flea in Soho, and have that on my to do list to check out this fall !
It was a very hot day when we arrived......in the morning......I so prefer visiting this flea in the fall season
look at these vintage cameras!! how cool !! this is one of the best flea's and started around 2008.....
loved this for the dapper guys out there!! their website says they have about 125+ vendors but I thought it was smaller than what I was expecting.....this was the Sunday flea as they also have one on Saturday
I loved this neat hanging lamp ....the colors were great and the design very interesting......You can purchase some really unique items here, no doubt !!
just about anything you can think of vintage would be here as well as handmade jewelry and food items
okay, these doughnuts were amazing! I can't even begin to explain but they were so light and fluffy...like eating nothing but air .....the food will be it's own separate post.........
this reminded me of my mom's jewelry box...I hated the fact they were mostly clip and those clip earrings are quite the painful but oh so pretty !!
this painting was really neat.....didn't ask the price but would love to hang in my home
How cute is this guy?? Overall I enjoyed the experience, would like to go back when not as hot or in the winter when it is indoors so I can take the time to look more slowly.
With views like this, we were not complaining too much.....it was nice to sit and relax and just enjoy a Sunday in Brooklyn, New York.

Cafe Luxembourg and The Grand Bazaar NYC

A few weekends ago, with this amazing mild weather, I headed into the city on a Sunday. I love Sundays in the city as they are usually very calming. I headed up to the Upper West Side for some breakfast, and shopping at the Grand Bazaar NYC flea market.

The gorgeous building above, The Dorilton, was completed in 1902 at a cost of $750,000. The building had separate servant and passenger elevators, filtered water, separate tenant storerooms and a provision for charging electric automobiles.

The one- to four-bedroom apartments, four to a floor and renting for $100 to $300 a month, had long halls, unusual paneling and mirrored bathrooms. But there was marginal closet space and a skimpy bath-to-bedroom ratio, both typical of early apartments.

I really enjoyed staring at this building for a while before I walked on my way to breakfast. What an absolute gem!

I had wanted to try Cafe Luxembourg for a while, so today was the day.
My eggs benedict were okay. The potatoes were totally yummy, I just felt it should have been a bit more fabulous than it was. The atmosphere was very New York, many locals dine here as well as the tourists.

Cute card with your bill! I hate to say I don't think I will be back, there are so many other places to try in this area for a meal, but I am glad I did visit.
While walking to the Grand Bazaar NYC more lovely architecture along the way!
I really loved the details here. This city is going to make me take a class in architecture! It makes you become so interested when you walk around a city where it surrounds you!
Detail everywhere!

This is up close detail of The Ansonia building, which does offer apartments to rent or buy, and once housed the fabulous Babe Ruth. If I won the lottery, I would look for an apartment here!
I just love these types of chairs!
We are now at The Grand Bazaar, which is located at West 77th Street between Columbus and Amsterdam Avenue.
How fantastic are these coats? Love !!
You will find a nice mix here, from vintage to artisans, and a great place for browsing!
Just about anything can be found here!
This was only $15 and if the colors were right, I would have bought it! What a steal!
Who doesn't love a good vintage handbag?
One of the great artisans at the bazaar is SPJ Jewelry who I was thrilled to meet. Her designs are very dainty, elegant and so unique. I purchased the rose gold earrings in this photo, they are just so darn lovely!
It was hard not to purchase everything at this table!

Love, love that half moon necklace. A great layering piece!
For those who are looking for vintage jewelry, that can be found here as well. I was so proud of myself that I brought none home!
Those cameos were talking to me, but I didn't listen!
Fun vintage mixer!
Records seem to be making a comeback, I see my local Barnes and Noble selling them now. That is pretty darn cool!
I need to come back for some of these items, just love!
This candle smelled AMAZING from Harlem Heirloom, I probably will be ordering from them online. I hate purchasing heavy items and then having to carry around all day.
More original jewelry designs
Very cool bag!
Loved these designs with the Beatles, Snoopy and other famous characters
