Ralph Lauren Shopping Upper East Side

I finally was able to check out the newly restored Ralph Lauren store on Madison Avenue in the Upper East Side. I have to say that New York City has provided me with much history to learn, even when I didn't realize I was learning something. This building is just breathtaking and I tend to really love this style of architecture. I came to find out, it is called Beaux-Arts, the term meaning "fine arts". Whenever I come across a building in the city where I am just blown away by the beauty of it, and must stare for quite a bit of time, it is done in the Beaux-Arts style. So, as much as New York City has wonderful food and shopping till you drop, you can gain a sense of something new. Something that makes you want to find out more, to learn more. Okay, let's take a peek at the building ....

Architectural Digest did a fabulous feature about this building and you can see the inside as well HERE. I have always been a fan of Ralph Lauren and of course frequent his daughter Dylan's Candy Bar as well. How great is this door?
Another amazing door on the Upper East Side
the building next door was pretty amazing as well  especially with that classic door above
the Ralph Lauren windows were quite chic

I really love this look and that hat is quite the charmer !!
So gorgeous is this building......what do you think of the design? It has become my new obsession I am afraid, so you will be seeing more buildings in this design. They are very easy on the eyes and we are just so lucky to be able to enjoy their beauty.

Build A Bear Cookie Bouquet from Cookies By Design

I have heard about cookie bouquets for a very long time. I never had the chance to receive one, so I was happy when Cookies by Design contacted me to work with them for Valentine's Day. This is their Build a Bear Cookie Bouquet, which is so adorable! The way it was packed was very well, no cookies were broken in travel.

I love different gifts, and a cookie bouquet is very unique. You can even have a cookie customized with a photo, logo or custom message. The bear is so soft and cuddly! This particular bouquet had 8 cookies, you can choose either 6 or 8 cookies.

I thought my logo came out well, I could have sent a larger size photo which probably would have looked even better.

The cookies are all pre-sealed so you can freeze them if you don't wish to eat all at once. When I opened the package, the smell of the cookies just took over! Such a great vanilla smell!

The cookies are pretty thick and very soft. I really love a soft cookie, they just make everything better!

Very flavorful, moist and really yummy. I think this gift would be perfect for someone you just do not know what to gift, something unique.

I would highly recommend Cookies by Design for your next gift selection, I think the receiver would be very happy indeed. They also have other types of gifts with regular cookies which look pretty good on their website. I think cookies make a great gift for just about anyone!

Some information from the Cookies by Design website:

Our cookies are baked fresh and hand-decorated at each location.

10 Must Stops in Flatiron District

The Flatiron district is one of my favorite spots in the city. It has such a home feel to it, and wonderful cafes and shops. It doesn't feel touristy as Times Square and Fifth Avenue. It is a must stop destination for you if you have never visited. I came up with my 10 must stops in this area, they need to be on your "to-do" list. Most of these folks sell online which is great, then you don't have to carry all those bags while walking around the city! Stroll around the area, go down the side streets and see what treasures you will find. It is how I find the most amazing places!

In no particular order:
  1. Eataly
  2. Fishs Eddy
  3. Whisk
  4. Maille Boutique
  5. Flying Tiger
  6. David's Tea
  7. ABC Carpet and Home
  8. Marimekko Flagship Store
  9. Restoration Hardware
  10. Beecher's Handmade Cheese

Throwback Thursday "Greenwich Village Fashion"

Just a wonderful vintage photograph by Jessie Tarbox Beals of folks dressed pretty spiffy taken between 1917-1926. What amazing clothing, from the ladies shoes to the men's hats. Did you know Greenwich Village was considered bohemian by the mid-1910's?

Jessie Tarbox Beals (1870 – 1942) was an American photographer, the first published female photojournalist in the United States mostly known for her portraits of places such as Bohemian Greenwich Village.

The radicals who lived in Greenwich Village in the early 20th century rejected traditional structured socialization, preferring instead bohemian informality. Yet they often met in Village hangouts to discuss their ideas about revolution and art. These places, and the individuals that frequented them, earned the Village its reputation as America’s Left Bank and attracted tourists and those who wanted to live the bohemian lifestyle.

New Gansevoort Market

While staying at the Maritime Hotel, I really had the chance to check out the meatpacking district more than I ever have before. I loved the Kiehl's store, their products are one of my most favorite.

I had to check out the new Gansevoort Market, which is a food hall and great for lunch, dinner or just a bite when the hunger pains strike. I really love these food halls because if you are with a group or someone who likes different food than you, there are so many choices. It is also nice as well that many amazing food vendors are all under one roof.

Here is some history of the market from their website:

In 1884, The Gansevoort “Farmers” Market named after Revolutionary War figure Peter Gansevoort, opened the first open-air produce market for buying and selling regional produce on the site of the former Fort Gansevoort location. In 1887, meat, poultry and dairy products were added and the market was relocated to what is currently Gansevoort Street and renamed the Gansevoort Market.

The Market created a bustling and lively scene, Harper’s Weekly described the spectacle in 1888: “During the dark hours of early morning, as hundreds of wagons of all descriptions converge upon the market, pandemonium reigns as traffic chokes the thoroughfares for blocks around.”

I was really disappointed that the donut place was not open when I visited.

Dana's Bakery makes some fantastic french macarons.

I tried the Elvis which was peanut butter, bacon and banana. It was pretty fabulous!

This looked so darn moist! Probably melts right in your mouth.

I really love empanadas!

The rice pudding shop was not open either, I really love a good creamy rice pudding. Have to stop back when in the area to try.

If you want a burger, it is here as well

I had been dying to try the Big Gay Ice Cream

This shoe was their tip jar - so fun !

I was disappointed they didn't have any of their famous ice cream creations at this location, but I went with vanilla and chocolate with sprinkles. Everything is better with sprinkles.

The Meatball Guys looked really yummy.

Talk about great pizza, look at the oven!

I need to get back to try one of these, they all looked amazing

Such simple ingredients make for a very tasty pizza!

This was a crab tostada and it was quite tasty!

There are 20 vendors here, which gives you a very good dining selection

If you have never tried gelato, you need to ASAP.

It is just as good as these photos look, maybe even better. And it is healthier than ice cream!

Crepes are such a good choice, tasty and light

Such a lovely area of Chelsea/Meatpacking district. I would highly suggest a visit to this market and enjoy some of these amazing vendors tasty treats!

Open 8am-8pm daily
353 W. 14th St, NYC, NY 10014
