I visited the NY Historical Society for the first time last month. It was one of those things on my "to do" list and glad to finally have a visit. I was waiting for the place to open, and while walking around the area, ran into Ricky Gervais coming from Central Park with his girlfriend. I am a HUGE fan of his, love the original version of the Office, so I was thrilled. I never really saw many famous people before, but it seems lately, maybe because I am in so much, I am seeing them often!
President Lincoln greets you when you enter the museum. He was quite a tall guy, as the statue is his exact height.
When you walk in, Alexander Hamilton & Aaron Burr are in their duel positions, which is pretty neat
The museum didn't have very many exhibits as the 4th floor's permanent collection is closed for renovations from Sept 2014 to March 2017. Since I had never visited, I did see what was on exhibit on the day, but probably would only go back if there was an exhibit that really interested me.
This guy reminded me of Johnny Depp as Tonto in the Lone Ranger movie!
Okay, okay so this is a lady. However, some may have thought it was a guy as states below. If it is a lady, she needs a trip to Sephora asap. I do like the blue dress she/he is wearing. Pour soul!
Many lovely paintings to admire here
The Hamilton craze is all over this museum
These were medicines from a very long time ago, amazing to me they lasted all these years
Lovely painting of our US Flag
I love Tiffany lamps and anything stained glass
Probably my favorite one, would love to have this in my home
There was a Folk Art exhibit that day, so I had to see what that was all about
Loved this painting, she has the eyebrows of 2016 !
Nice to know they sold lottery tickets in 1800
The admission fee for this museum is $20.00 and I just felt other museums offer much more to see for that price. I was glad I went, but not sure how often I will be back. There is a fabulous restaurant in the museum titled Caffe' Storico, which I will feature here on another post, that is a must try. You do not need to pay entrance for the museum to just eat in the restaurant.
