2010 Arthur Ashe Kids Day Presented by Hess Performers

This year I had the great pleasure of covering my first event as a media photographer. I have been interested in photography for a long time and when I have the camera with me, I become someone else. It kind of takes over your whole body. In a wonderful kind of way. I must thank Karen from Global Village Tennis News  for making this all possible. Her website is a wealth of information for the tennis fan and is a must read. Karen is one of those few people out there who ooze class and professionalism. I look forward to working with her in the future.   

This was the 15th anniversary of Arthur Ashe Kids Day and the stadium show was sold out! It is a great pre-tournament event for families. There are activities for kids like tennis clinics, lots of different games as well as facepainting. The grounds activities are free but tickets are required for the concerts and performances inside Arthur Ashe Stadium. Musical acts the Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato, David Archuleta and the Bryan Brothers performed. Tennis stars Rafael Nadal, Roger Federer, Andy Roddick, Novak Djokvic, Kim Clijsters as well as Lindsay Vonn appeared. It is a wonderful celebration of the memory of Arthur Ashe who died in 1993 of aids and of his efforts to help young people through tennis. The Kids Day event began the year Arthur Ashe died. 
I will show pictures of those who performed first, then the wonderful tennis players who took time out of their busy day getting ready for this tournament in one of the best cities in the world ...........

David Archuleta on the red carpet...god knows how I got this photo as it was a mad house! Everyone scrambling to get shots....I was a bit unprepared for what it was but came away with some good shots anyway

It was crazy when the Jonas Brothers came out with Demi Lovato....I had no idea who she was and am a bit familiar with the Jonas boys....

this one was much easier and features Karen from GV Tennis News with the Bryan Brothers...they seemed very down to earth and easy to chat with
