Bryant Park Part 2

I took so many great shots of Bryant Park during my visit in April I need 2 posts to show them to you. Hope you are not disappointed and make a note to visit the park if you are in the city and it happens to be a gorgeous day like this one. It is a great "take a break" spot ..for sure!!

lots of chairs and tables for your feet to take a break

a great splat of fountain to cool you off

Bryant Park Grill, right behind the library

the NY everyone says is not clean, needs to visit again....super clean everywhere

views like this are reason to visit more often

Le Carrousel was specially created to complement the park’s French classical style, is an homage to both European and American traditions.

Bryant Park Hotel ....I would love to stay here

how gorgeous is this building???

a great area to sit, relax and have a drink ( or two)

had to give you the list of rules in case you wish to lounge around in the park
I liked the last one...you are not even forced to buy a drink or food but nice idea to anyway

In all my years going to NYC, this was my first time to Bryant Park and all I said was "why did it take me so long!!" It is really a wonderful place and a must stop when in the city. I was in awe and quite over-joyed to be honest!!

Something I wanted to add, from the book 8,789 Words of Wisdom which is on the right side bar of the blog...a piece of wisdom for each post - hope you enjoy them !!

Teach yourself how to think, not what to think

Bryant Park Part 1

My trips to the city are usually monthly and with winter it can be hard to choose what day to go. My trip in April turned out to be one gorgeous day, I was very lucky. April in the Northeast can be tricky...snowy, rainy, nicey...I got nicey!!
The park has been around since as early as 1686 and the history behind it is very interesting. I will list the park's website at the end where you can read about it's history. It was really such a relaxing place in a city that is known for it's fast pace.

here is your map of the park...pretty big actually and right next to the NY Public Library

history of the park for your reading pleasure

did I say how nice of a day it was? here was the blue sky

a game of bocce ball taking place in the park

witchcraft is ready with soup and sandwiches, salads as well

does this look like spring or what???

lawn was closed for the day

everyone behaved...no laying on the lawn

pretty as a picture...that is the Chrysler Building all the way to the left

more tomorrow.......

Grand Central Terminal

Grand Central Terminal has often been called "the heart of nyc". It officially opened 12:01am Sunday Feb. 2, 1913 and more than 150,000 visited that opening day. It has had it's ups and downs since opening but remains one of the most famous of the NYC landmarks. The many times I have visited, I had not taken photos. It is also somewhat dark inside so photos can be tricky but I had some come out pretty nicely. Shall we enter......

how beautiful is this???
the ceiling is so gorgeous
you have to be careful not to get run over..people are actually trying to get a train or subway here!!
that famous clock ......
track 28 is this way......
there are many places to dine here as well...I finally bought this bread at Zaro's after taking photos of it for quite a while...verdict? delish and only $4.95 would make a great french toast
Junior's is known for the cheesecake but the carrot cake is to die for!!
Ciao Bella gelato is a nice cooling treat, especially in the summer
Fried Oysters at the Grand Central Oyster bar....if you like oysters, this is the place to be!!

Zaro's has birthday cake if it is your special day
Let's not forget Magnolia Bakery's Grand Central Cuppie....with edible gold dust

be sure to check out Grand Central and all it has to offer....

IL Cantuccio Biscotti di Leonardo

My visit to the city is always finding new and exciting places. The village is such a great place to explore and from being there the last few times, it is not crowded like midtown - give yourself a change and head down there for the day. Explore the wonderful historic little streets and see what you find. I read about this place in Time Out NY but came across it and well, was not disappointed - but when ever am I disappointed in NYC?
really cute window caught our eye...along with that word "bakery" and "tuscan"
second window had an old fashioned scale
this was under the countertops....beautiful
very large tip jar, marble counters and free tastings .....
should have tried the pizza as looked really good
such a cute bag they packed those cookies in ....

the wonderful cookies...now they are $29.00 a pound However they are worth every penny! And you do not have to get a whole pound...they were so nice here and I will most definitely be back....it is a must see in the village. The cookies with the chocolate chunks are called Cantucci (similar to biscotti but different texture) and the second one are “Bruttiboni” (“ugly-but-good”), also known as "Mandorlati di San Clemente," are sweets typical of Prato. They are mostly made of white sweet almonds, egg white, sugar and hazelnuts...shaped by hand and cooked in the oven on a thin wafer.

I cannot say enough how amazing these were.....but they were amazing. Make a note of this place. You will be happy you did after you leave.          Trust me.
