Great Northern Food Hall

During my trip to the city for Christmas, I stopped in Grand Central Terminal. One of my favorite places that I haven't been to in a bit. The architecture of this building is just beyond gorgeous.

I wanted to check out the new food hall, Great Northern, opened June 2016, and here is some information from their website:

Behind Great Northern Food Hall is MeyersUSA, a hospitality group in New York recently started by Claus Meyer.

Claus hails from Denmark, where for the past 30 years he has been instrumental in unlocking the potential of Danish food culture through a number of research, consulting, community and entrepreneurial initiatives.

He is the creator of the New Nordic Cuisine movement, and co-founder of Noma, Copenhagen’s famed New Nordic restaurant.
I was very impressed with this food hall, as it was very different from any others located in the city.
The items offered were very unique, and beautiful to look at as well!

These sandwiches are from Open Rye, which is introducing to New York smørrebrød, the savory and hard-to-pronounce open-faced sandwiches, which have been a beloved staple in its native Denmark for hundreds of years.
I would find it very hard to choose here, may have to come back a few times to try various selections!

The atmosphere is really lovely, and I like the originality.
That smoked salmon is calling me!

The presentation is just amazing, don't you think?

This is a very welcome addition to Grand Central Terminal, and I will be getting back soon, even bring a friend!

And speaking of another Danish item, I am obsessed with The Little Book of Hygge by Meik Wiking. Danish people know how to be happy, and this book is just a wonderful read for those looking for inspiration in their lives.

Loosely translated, Hygge—pronounced Hoo-ga—is a sense of comfort, togetherness, and well-being. "Hygge is about an atmosphere and an experience," Wiking explains. "It is about being with the people we love. A feeling of home. A feeling that we are safe."

A must read! Looking at the cover alone just makes me smile!
