The Private Collection of Joan Rivers

I was very happy to be able to check out the items for the Private Collection of Joan Rivers at Christie's at Rockefeller Center. My Mom and I were big fans of Joan, I have always loved her comedy. We watched the documentary about her a few years ago, it is streaming on Netflix, and is really excellent. She went non-stop for someone who was close to 80 years old at the time. She was a very giving person as well, and had charities she really cared about for a long time.

Online sale highlights included:
  • A Black Diamond and Diamond Ring, which realized $11,250 against a high estimate of $5,000
  • An Antique Multi-Gem and Diamond 'Prince-Of-Wales' Brooch, $10,625
  • A Gold and Citrine Necklace, $9,375
The live auction’s top lot was A Jeweled Gold-Mounted Nephrite Photograph Frame, Marked Fabergé, Moscow, circa 1898. Which sold for $245,000 against an estimate of $40,000 - $60,000.

Additional live highlights included:
They had Joan's quotes throughout the exhibit of items and they were all fabulous!

I apologize for this being a bit blurry, but wanted to show you the detail in this top. Just gorgeous.

Joan's dog Spike's silver dog bowl and  A CELADON SILK AND PASSEMENTERIE UPHOLSTERED DOG HOUSE were just too darn cute! The bowl sold for $13.750 and the dog house sold for $2,250 US Dollars

This clock was really gorgeous in person and sold for $6,875.00 US Dollars
A GERMAN ORMOLU-MOUNTED MALACHITE-VENEERED TABLE CLOCK
LATE 19TH CENTURY
The malachite-veneered case surmounted by an astronomer, the circular dial signed 'John Hartmann, Horloger Du Roi, Berlin'

I would have bought this chair, there was a set of 2, if money were no object.
I liked the fact that you could see her furniture was used, it wasn't just to look at, but to use and enjoy on a daily basis.

A PAIR OF LOUIS XV STYLE WHITE-PAINTED FAUTEUILS
LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY
Each upholstered a chassis with cream floral silk brocade
Both chairs sold for $5,625.00 US Dollars

I just loved this bag, and they were kind enough to take it out for me to look at!
Sold for $9,375.00 US Dollars

A SIMULATED GEMSTONE BOUQUET BROOCH, BY IRADJ MOINI
Designed as a bouquet of marquise and circular-cut simulated colored and colorless gemstone flowers, to the carved hardstone leaves and yellow metal stems, tied with a circular-cut simulated colorless gemstone bow, 3 3/4 ins.
Sold for $2,000.00 US Dollars

Guide Dogs for the Blind is a most wonderful charity which will receive a portion of the proceeds from this auction.

God's Love We Deliver   God's Love We Deliver is the New York City metropolitan area's leading provider of nutritious, individually-tailored meals to people who are too sick to shop or cook for themselves. Joan delivered holiday meals each year, and was on the board of directors since 1994. They will also receive a portion of the proceeds from this auction.
