You see so many fire escapes in New York City. I am not quite sure I would be able to use them, even if there was a fire, as I am not a fan of heights or open stairs. But I do think they make for cool photos, and this one was especially neat with the brick of the building, and the teal trim at the top of the building.
So, would you use a fire escape?

If you need one you use them. Funny how fire regulations can give a city a particular view. In paris for instance you have on the fifth (?) floor always the continuous gutter or balconies to go from one apparent to the other in case of fire and to reach another staircase.
