I had the wonderful opportunity to preview the new Broadway musical about the legendary Charles Spencer "Charlie" Chaplin. Even though his films were way beyond my time, I was introduced by my parents to his amazing films. Who cannot forgot that mustache or that famous walk? If you have never had the pleasure to see one of his movies, I highly suggest renting a few.
Chaplin, the Musical shows you the life of Charlie from the very beginning, living in poverty in London, his mother's illness, which haunted him his whole life, and how he came to make the most genius films which still endure today. A true story of coming from very little to being one of the world's most beloved characters.
We were treated to a fabulous brunch at the famous Lamb's Club, located at 132 West 44th Street, in the 1905 landmark Stanford White designed building at the Chatwal Hotel. We had the chance to meet with the producers and cast of the play which was really wonderful.
This bar area was so gorgeous! I am a huge lover of Art Deco design and this place had me smiling from ear to ear! Make note of the fabulous lights hanging as they look like the Empire State Building!!
The food was amazing as the chef is Geoffrey Zakarian whose career has spanned 20 years. He won the 4th season of Food Network's The Next Iron Chef, Super Chefs and is a recurring judge on CHOPPED.
The line started very early in the day which I thought was great. The Ethel Barrymore theatre is quite a historic place, a perfect setting for the Chaplin story. Rob McClure really nails the Chaplin persona very well and his performance is quite remarkable. The supporting cast which includes his many wives (he had 4 total), his brother Sidney, his mother Hannah as well as some enemies like Hedda Hopper. Jenn Colella, playing Hedda, ( my mom's maiden name was Colella) gives an amazing solo "All Falls Down" which brought much applause from the audience. We had almost a full house on a Sunday afternoon and it was quite a mix of ages.

We were lucky to sit very close to the stage and the costumes were just amazing. The color palette was black, grey and white. I would be very shocked if they did not win a Tony for the costumes as they were just so well done. My guest and I both had tears in the end, the crowd jumped to their feet with huge applause, I felt it was a huge success. As we walked out of the theater, right in front of us was Dr. Ruth herself, which was a perfect ending to a perfect day! I wish the play the best of luck, and I thank them for the opportunity to view this amazing show.
