The Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is probably one of the greatest museums in the world. It is a definite must stop when you travel to NYC. There is something for everyone and to go through the whole place in one day is very hard to accomplish. To New Yorkers and regular visitors like myself, it is known as "The Met". It was founded in 1870 and is located in NYC's Central Park along 5th Avenue from East 80 to 84th Streets. Nearly five million visit each year.
A great place for lunch nearby is Cafe Sabarsky at the Neue Galerie. It is a Viennese cafe located 5th avenue and East 86th Street. You can have your hand stamped in the museum to leave for lunch and go back to view more treasures. They do have places to get a bite to eat in the museum but I highly recommend Cafe Sabarsky if you are at any of the museums in the Upper East Side. You will leave with a smile on your face, trust me!!!!

Okay, on to the Met:

how lovely is this?
the American Wing is really quite wonderful
so are zoom lenses!!!
love the mosaic and tiffany windows
the Mary and Michael Jaharis Gallery
these were just so gorgeous
another great set of gorgeous glass
this color is amazing
description of vase
I love stained glass
photography is allowed in certain areas and for some exhibits
ask if you are not sure if you can take photos
if I won the powerball, I would live here...right near the Met
only in NYC could this great statue be at your doorstep!!!

Tomorrow, the Roof !!!

I love the Met! I haven't been there in a year ..way overdo so it's on my list for this summer.

Thanks for the cafe recommendation. That will be better than a hot dog from a cart out front, which is what I usually have ..lol
