MAD Museum Madeleine Albright Pin Collection vs. My Pin Collection

One of the adventures I took in my trip to the city 2 weeks ago was the MAD Museum in Columbus Circle. It is a really different type of musuem and definately gets the creative mind flowing. MAD stands for the Museum of Arts and Design and is very easy to get to from midtown area. I walked up West 57th street at Bergdorf Goodman and it was a nice stroll with some great stores along the way.

This pin collection was debuting at the museum of more than 200 pins which she wore to communicate a message or mood during her diplomatic tenure. In 1997 she became the first female Secretary of State and at that time the highest ranking woman in the history of the US Govt. "I found that jewelry had become part of my personal diplomatic arsenal," Secretary Albright has said. The collection was amazing and I realized I didn't have quite as many pins as I thought. Since there was no photography at the exhibit, I decided to show you my pin collection......which actually has some pretty neat stuff in it ......
For upcoming Valentine's Day...a cute heart pin I won at our local Tea House ......

a replicia of the Vera Wang rose I purchased at the Philadelphia Flower Show ....it's really gorgeous and very huge !!!

a vintage flower pin from my mom....she had some great pieces ......

another mom vintage piece, just classic I think .......

thank god for mothers!! another vintage piece that also has matching earrings....the earrings are a bit painful to wear as are clip but the colors in this pin are amazing!!

this was a gift from my mom as she worked in a great boutique years ago and they always had the greatest pins for sale .......this one is very dangling !!
the one on the left is a vintage mom piece and to the right a replicia of the Duchess of Windsor pin which I actually saw a neclace like it in Cartier's windows 2 weeks ago....these pins are timeless .......

being a tennis fan, I had to have one of these.....................

a Kenneth Jay Lane piece...wonderful crown ...very large .......

another pin from mom as a gift...just what we need MONEY ...she gave this to me when I got my first real job for a bank, makes sense I suppose but still love the pin !!!

"Santa I Want it All ' is a really fun pin !!!

this was from Neiman Marcus and I just ♥ it !!!

Last but not least, this litte snowman I wore to the city and got so many compliments on it. Everyone thought it was so different. Another mom gift !! He is a cutie!!

I hope I didn't bore you with my collection. The Madeleine Albright Collection is at the MAD museum until January 31 so if you get to the city, it is a must do. Admission is only $15 to the museum and there is also a great paper exhibit as well you can view. A book was also written about this collection which explains the pieces with photographs and talks about her ongoing impact on the field of jewelry design and collecting.
