Nordstrom 57th Street New York City

The Men's store has a Milk Bar for quick purchases of Christina Tosi's unique and delish desserts. The cake balls are one of my most favorites!

I am a HUGE Nordstrom fan, shopping online with them for many years and their store in King of Prussia, Pa. I have been longing for their store to open in NYC and last year, they finally did open. I was able to check out the gorgeous store, located at West 57th Street and Broadway, Columbus Circle area right before Thanksgiving. It did not disappoint. 

Nordstrom is famous for their customer service and I just love the selection they offer as well. When shopping online, free shipping and returns make me very happy. 

Founded in 1901 by Swedish American John W. Nordstrom and Carl F. Wallin, the company began as a shoe retailer and expanded its inventory to include clothing, accessories, handbags, jewelry, cosmetics, and fragrances. Many companies look to their views on customer service to mold their own employees. 

They had a great selection of Snoopy merchandise which I found fantastic! It made me smile! 

The main store has 5 restaurants, a Shoe Bar - a Coffee Bar - Oh Mochi! donuts - Clubhouse Bar 

A very cool selection, and on this day I visited their flagship restaurant, Bistro Verde. I started with some lobster bisque which was so fantastic! It came out quickly and the warm bread with olive oil and olives made me very happy!

My main course was fantastic too and I ended up bringing half home to enjoy the next day. I am excited to try their other restaurants, but from this experience cannot imagine they will be bad. A wonderful spot when in this area for a bit of shopping and dining in Columbus Circle!! 

Everyone needs a pretzel with eyes!

The Quin Central Park by Hilton Club Hotel Review

My Easter weekend in New York City was quite enjoyable staying at The Quin hotel on West 57th Street. The location is quite stellar, near 5th Avenue, but close to Central Park, Columbus Circle, Carnegie Hall, various subway lines. You can really walk to most places in the city from this hotel which I just love. 

The lobby is quite luxe. The hotel used to be the Buckingham Hotel, home to cultural icons such as the opera singer Giovanni Martinelli and the painter Georgia O’Keefe.  The hotel was renovated in 2010, however, the elevators are still slow and tiny! 

I loved this sitting area where they have coffee available in the mornings

My room was quite comfortable, not large but big enough for one person 

Plenty of room in the closet  

Loved the Nespresso machine 

The bottled water was free which was unexpected  

Some staining on the desk was disappointing for a 5 star hotel

Gorgeous bathroom! Someone actually said on trip advisor this was small, 

apparently they have not visited too many NYC hotels. This was a very

decent size for NYC standards.

• No Spa but Red Door is near

• No fresh flowers in the room 
• Rooms can be very close together 
• Street Noise for lower level rooms

Hotel prices are at their lowest in the months of January and February; their highest September and October. Sunday nights are the lowest prices for hotel rooms, in most cases. My go to places for checking prices for hotels are Trivago, Trip Advisor, Hotels.com and Travelzoo. Always remember to check the hotel's website itself, they are really trying to have you   

book direct and sometimes offer specials or a discount with AAA that is cheaper than the websites I mentioned above. 

I am also finding that if you book on your mobile device, you can save some money as well. I actually got a better rate via 

my mobile phone than using my AAA discount online direct at the hotel. You should really do some research on your price 

for hotel a few different ways, and ALWAYS book a room that you can cancel, you never know what may happen 

in the future. 

Remember to take into account for your total cost the NYC Hotel tax of 14.75% plus Daily $2.00 per room occupancy fee.

Would I reserve a night at the Quin Hotel again? I sure would. I would probably keep the rate under $300.00 per night. The location is really stellar, and the hotel itself is quite lovely. I had an issue with opening my safe and they sent someone up 

right away who was very helpful. The next day they called me to be sure the safe was working properly. They do not have 

ice machines on the floors, you have to call for it to be brought to you. I was a bit disappointed they didn't bring me any 

welcome desserts as other hotels have done in the past. I find bathrooms very important in my stay, and this one was one 

of the best I have had from all the hotels I have visited. I love being able to walk everywhere, and cabs are easy to pick up 

on 5th Avenue or Columbus Circle. There are many restaurants close to the hotel as well, and having Duane Reade 24/7 

across the street is wonderful if you forgot something at home.   

 My rating for this hotel, on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being perfect in every way, is an 8.

Vintage Shopping at Eve Bari

I spent my first Easter in the city this year, and had a most fabulous time. I am all about creating new memories to go along with my fantastic ones I have from prior years. I was meeting a few friends in the city, which is always fun, and was really looking for some type of hat for Easter Sunday. The above photo is the gorgeous Plaza Hotel. 

The Plaza just oozes New York City elegance! 

As I was walking up West 57th Street, I came across the shop Eve Bari. Their windows are what interested me. Very cool vintage items, and hats!  

Really great items, I just love vintage shops!  

Even something for the gentlemen too!  

I ended up talking with the kind owner, and popped in the shop.  

Cat eye sunglasses are just everything!  

Talk about a great selection, and most items well under $100. It is so neat to have a hat for the Easter holiday, but not everyone can afford a couture one!  

I loved this bracelet, but I behaved and didn't purchase. I love stacking these type of bangles!  

Perfect Easter accessories!  

I ended up purchasing a black feather fascinator which worked perfect with my outfit!  

It was so great to see the spring flowers in full bloom while walking around the city!

A Holiday Walk Along West 57th Street

Walking along West 57th Street and 5th Avenue is always wonderful during the holidays! These candy canes are oh so classic!  

I love this extra large buddha in the art gallery window  

Z Chemists window is always fun but too bad the sales ladies are not very nice in the store. I had a not pleasant experience and won't go back. But I always admire their wonderful windows.  

I liked the fact they had a Menorah as well as Christmas decor in their windows  

This snowman was just adorable and I love the cat in the window too!!
