The Bateaux New York

I was thrilled to be contacted by Cloud 9 Living to work with them on one of
their amazing tour experiences!

Cloud 9 Living was started in 2005, and their motto is: To forever change the world of gift giving by enhancing people's lives through memorable experiences. I cannot agree with that more. So many of
the gifts that were most impressive I gave my parents were the experiences, not things. In 2017, everyone talks about travel and experiences as opposed to buying things. Cloud 9 Living has close to 2,000 experiences nationwide, from City Tours to Race Car Driving to Dinner Cruises to Learning How to Fly! There is something for everyone, and if you are not sure what to choose, you can give a gift certificate for the lucky recipient. This would be the type of gift they will be talking about years after it has been enjoyed!

My choice for this adventure was the Bateaux New York Champagne Cruise. The ship is all
glass so you can see your lovely skyline as you cruise along the Hudson for 2 hours!
I am becoming a bit spoiled every time I am in New York, champagne is on the menu!

We were able to obtain a seat at the window as the ship was not completely full. Yay!

Our glass of champagne was included in the price. Coffee/Tea/Soda was
also available, and you could purchase cocktails on your own.

The breakfast spread was pretty varied, so everyone can find
something to their liking.

I couldn't resist the chocolate fountain with rice crispy treats

The views are why you would take this cruise. The day we choose was a bit dreary, but as you
can see, the skyline still looks amazing!

We were able to get very close to the Statue of Liberty, and even though I have seen
her many times, it brought a tear to my eye. I have never viewed her from the
Hudson, and I must say, it was a fantastic experience!

Cloud 9 Living is a fantastic way to gift someone (or purchase for yourself) an experience they will never forgot. It will be a wonderful memory they will have with them for a lifetime, and that is truly the best kind of gift. There are some folks that just have everything they need, and finding the perfect gift can be a nightmare. When you give an experience gift, it really is so unique and memorable. Using the Cloud 9 Living website is very easy to book your selection, and they do offer refund/exchanges if your choice needs to be changed. The prices fit all types of budgets, which I think is just fantastic.

Throwback Thursday "Statue of Liberty Arm 1876"

1876 The Statue of Liberty’s right arm and torch is put on display for the next 6 years in an effort to raise funding to complete the statue’s construction.

French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi had originally planned to have the statue ready for presentation to the U.S. on July 4, 1876, when the nation would be celebrating its centennial. Delays prevented that, however, and the work continued in Bartholdi's Paris studio. Still, the torch and giant right arm (the index finger alone is 8 feet long) had been completed and that part of the statue was shipped to Philadelphia, where it was exhibited at the Centennial Exposition. Later that year, the arm and torch were sent to New York and installed at the northern end of Madison Square Park as part of a campaign to raise funds for the construction of a pedestal.

There it remained for the next six years and though the upraised arm with its golden torch was destined to become perhaps the most iconic symbol of freedom in modern history.

In 1885 fund raising efforts were at a standstill, until a push from Joseph Pulitzer, publisher of the World garnered nearly 120,000 donations, enabling the completion of the pedestal and the assembly of the Statue of Liberty in place on Bedloe's Island.

Photo Gallery Thursday "Statue of Liberty @ the Brooklyn Flea"

The Brooklyn Flea has just about anything you could think of to purchase. Even the Statue of Liberty. I don't think she would have fit on the bus I took that day, plus not sure what my mom would think bringing this home! She would make a great garden statue....don't you think??

2010 Philadelphia Flower Show "USA"

We are now arriving in USA at the flower show. I saw the first girl from far away and went crazy!! What a wonderful display. And you know there is always a yankee hat somewhere in the world!! Here are some great displays representing the United States of America...............

she looked almost real !!!

Presented by the W.B. Saul High School of Agricultural Sciences
Philadelphia, PA 19128
Through Her Gates
The Statue of Liberty stands as a symbol to welcome all who pass through her gates. In this display, plants from around the world come together, representing the melting pot that is America. Varieties from Asia, Europe and the Americas surround the great lady, linking horticultural traditions.

I had to shoot the wonderful explanation of the exhibit....Thank you France !!

they did win the world series last year....plus are the most winning team in history..nice touch!!

this reminded me of the globe at Flushing Meadows where the US Open tennis is played

 J. Downend Landscaping Crum Lynne, PA 19022

A Delaware Valley garden can incorporate beautiful plants from around the world in both hardy and tender forms. In this visionary scene, water cascades down a staircase of Pennsylvania bluestone into a reflecting pool, presenting the appearance of a floating walkway.

No Passport Required

A bronze globe is draped in a backdrop of roses and amelanchier, and a limestone eagle is enveloped in snapdragons and delphinium, reminding us that we live in a horticultural melting pot of the global landscape.

eagle had to have a close up

exhibit explanations taken from the 2010 Philadelphia Flower Show website
The theme for 2011 show is "Springtime in Paris"
March 6th to the 13th, 2011
