Maille Mustard Create Your Own Mustard Class

I had the pleasure of attending a "Create Your Own Mustard"  media class with the lovely folks at Maille in their new Flatiron location. Their mustard is really so full of flavor to begin with, and then when you can add a little of what flavors you like, it becomes pure heaven!
Our class had 4 folks including myself, it was nice and easy for everyone to chat together. The classes will have a limit of 6 participants. We would be infusing fresh-from-the-tap Dijon mustard with our preferred combination of seasonal flavorings.

The choices we had for flavoring our mustard were:

Sweet
Cinnamon
Apricots
Coconut
Candied Ginger
Maple Syrup
Vanilla Paste

Fresh
Dill
Lemon and Orange Zest
Rosemary
Tarragon
Tomato Paste
Thyme
Cilantro

Texture
Black Olives
Fennel Seeds
Hazelnuts
Porcini Mushrooms
Walnuts
Shallots

Spices
Cumin
Curry
Black Pepper
Cayenne
Saffron
Smoked Paprika

We had wonderful light fare prior to the class, as well as wines from Acker Merrall & Condit Wines

We were able to see the recipes by the Mustard Sommelier Pierette Huttner to give us ideas for our own mustard flavor. We could make one of Pierette's recipes, or come up with something on our own.

For my mustard, I went with Coconut, Cinnamon and Maple Syrup. It was totally amazing, and tastes great with any type of fish, especially my favorite, salmon.
I was able to take my mustard home to enjoy, and the class really shows you to be daring with your mustard, and try something unique. This class is a really fun event, a great gift for your foodie friend, something they will enjoy and remember.

You can get all the details and sign up for future classes on EventBrite: Maille Mustard Class . In July and August, all classes will take place at Maille Flatiron; in September classes will be held in both the Flatiron Boutique and at the original Maille Boutique in Lincoln Square. For additional information, group events, or to be added to their waiting list, please contact mustardclass@fraichepr.com.

La Maison Maille Flatiron Boutique

Isn't that a view that never gets old? We are in the flatiron district visiting our friends LA MAISON MAILLE NEW YORK in their new boutique. I am so thrilled as I am in this area more than the Upper West Side.
The boutique is really lovely, and near so many great foodie joints! I visited on a Saturday while I met Lisa, who makes great jewelry on Etsy, her shop is Georgie Girl Jewels and you should take a peek!
The new spring mustards are so darn colorful! Mustard with carrot and a hint of shallot, Mustard with beetroot and a hint of honey, & Mustard with olives and herbes de Provence. How do you choose just one? They have a lovely set of all three available in the shop!

Mango vinegar! My Dad used to make the best salad dressing with balsamic vinegar, olive oil and a red wine vinegar. It was so good, and healthy for you as well. These products are so good to add flavor for your cuisine, but not salt nor fat. Perfect!
The boutique is really lovely!

This is a great place if you are looking for a gift for a foodie, they have wonderful sets that make fabulous surprises for friends/family.

They have their famous mustard on tap here, if you purchase one, you can then have the crock re-filled once it's all gone. What a great idea!

Apple Cider Vinegar with honey sounds pretty darn amazing to me!

Maille is going to be offering mustard making classes at this location which I think sounds like so much fun! Their products are just made with so much care, and the best quality ingredients you can find. You cannot go wrong with any purchase from either of their locations!
