Sweet, Hot & Spicy Pop Up Grand Bazaar

For any of you that may be in the city this Sunday, our friends at The Grand Bazaar are having a cool event with Sweet, Hot & Spicy foods! I would highly recommend a stop here if you are to be in the city this Sunday!

New York, NY - February 21, 2022 - A special one-day-only Sweet, Hot & Spicy Pop-up will take place on Sunday, February 27th, 2022 at Grand Bazaar NYC (100 W. 77th Street) from 10am – 5pm.  Grand Bazaar NYC is the city’s oldest, largest, and most diverse curated weekly shopping market, with up to 150 vendors featured each week. The purpose-driven weekly market organizes different special-themed events, highlighting both new and established independent local artists, designers, craft-makers, vintage and antique dealers, and artisanal food entrepreneurs. Annually over 900 merchants are brought in to create unique experiences for visitors every time they stop by. The vendors are selected based upon the weekly theme, the quality of craftsmanship, and how distinctive and rare their offerings are.

These wonderful photos were provided by the nice folks at The Grand Bazaar ! Everything looks so amazing ! This is going to be an excellent event!

This Sunday, visitors can get an endorphin rush from the over 20 artisanal food vendors that are spicing and sweetening up the “mid-winter” blues. Some of the participating food vendors in this year’s Sweet, Hot & Spicy Pop-up include Jamaican heat from Treat YourSelf Jerk, addictive Korean corn dogs from ClubDog, burning Indian curries from Mysttik Masaala, hot Taiwanese popcorn chicken and fish from Taiwanese Yummy, fiery empanadas from Empanada Papa, handcrafted in small-batches artisanal hot sauces from Hattwood Hot Sauce, and bold Brooklyn-made hot sauces from Cantina Royal. On the sweet side, there will be The Boiis with handcrafted mochi stuffed dessert bites, Althea’s Tropical Delights bringing cakes with the sweet taste of the Caribbean, BITE’s creative artisanal mini donuts, Culiraw with full-flavor and decadent raw vegan cakes, and Broma’s protein-packed and flavored almond + lentil + chocolate butter spreads. In addition, visitors can explore and shop from over 70 independent artists, designers, and vintage dealers.

Grand Bazaar NYC was created to provide funding to four Upper West Side public schools and to support small independent local merchants and entrepreneurs. Every time a vendor commits to selling their goods at the market, the schools PS 87, The Computer School, PS 334, and M.S. M247 Dual Language Middle School benefit. 100% of the net profits from the rental of a booth benefit over 2,000 public school children by providing them with much-needed school supplies, books, art enrichment, and sports programs.

Grand Bazaar NYC is located at 100 W. 77th Street at Columbus Avenue. The market is open every Sunday from 10am – 5pm. For more information visit, www.GrandBazaarNYC.org.

Grand Central Virtual Holiday Fair 2020

I was very happy to see the Grand Central Holiday Fair has gone virtual this year! The Grand Central Virtual Holiday Fair is one of the best spots for holiday shopping! This fair is very unique to those in Bryant Park, Columbus Circle and Union Square as it has different artisans selling their products. There will be over 40 vendors so not too big nor too small, selling items for men, woman and children. These items are a bit more on the high end side, but you will find very unique gifts. This fair has been held at Grand Central since 1993, and is a great spot to shop when looking for gifts for the holiday season.

I personally shop online often in general, but during this pandemic, pretty much all shopping has been online. It just makes it so easy to have items delivered to your door to keep you safe and healthy until the vaccine. I will showcase some of the vendors below and there are links to their websites as well. Many of these vendors are small businesses so it's nice to give them the business in these crazy economic times.

Happy Shopping!!!

Loved these hats with all the fun colors available

Craftspring from Brooklyn is one of my most favorites. I ordered one of these angels for a friend in England who has been in ill health. I hope it brightens her days.
The rainbow clouds are pure joy!
Jingle Nog has some of the most glorious gifts
loved these bow ties for the fashionable guy

I will miss seeing the terminal's decorations this season

These pepper grinders would make a great gift for anyone
I always wanted a hot dog wreath!

I so adore gingerbread this time of year

The fair is open 24/7 as of NOW through December 24th. Do your holiday shopping from the cozy comforts of home and let it snow, let it snow, let snow!

The Bank of America Winter Village 2020-2021 Season

I hope you are all doing well and staying healthy. I cannot believe the end of October is here but I am happy to tell you about the opening of the Bank of American Winter Village at Bryant Park October 30th. I am so pleased they are going to open, this will be the first year that I have not visited in a long time. It is truly a magical place, as I often spend Christmas Eve here enjoying the wonderful hot chocolate and lovely vendors. I love finding unique gift items here for friends and family, as well as myself!

If you are able to visit the city this holiday, please give this place a visit. You will not be disappointed and they are taking very good measures to ensure your health and safety.

Information from their website is below:

Smaller, safer: We’ve reduced the number of kiosks and reconfigured the layout to avoid congestion and allow for more spacious walkways. Staff will wear face coverings, make hand sanitizer available, and conduct contactless payments.

Park safety: Handwashing stations are available throughout the park. Visitors must wear a face covering at the Holiday Shops and maintain social distance while circulating through the park. Be safe, be kind, and please heed all park and Holiday Shops’ directives.

New York City's only free admission ice skating rink, which is located in the park, is scheduled to return this year. Tickets, however, must be reserved online in advance. (Reservations are expected to come online in the coming days.)

Health and Safety

New this Year: Ice skating at Winter Village is now a fully outdoor experience, and the Holiday Shops have a reconfigured layout with fewer shops to allow for more spacious walkways. At The Rink we are also implementing:

Enhanced cleaning protocol: high contact surfaces will be sanitized throughout the day.
Contactless payment: advance online booking is now required for all rink reservations.
Skate sessions: to reduce capacity on The Rink and give more visitors a chance to skate, skate time will be booked per timed session.

Masks: all visitors must wear face coverings over their noses and mouths for the duration of their visit to The Rink.

This season, The Lodge has transformed into The Lodge Deck, a completely outdoor experience.
Visitors can still enjoy rinkside eats and drinks with a stellar view of skaters and the Christmas Tree.

Safety

Face coverings are required unless patrons are seated at a table.
Contactless ordering will be available.
To enjoy food and drink at The Lodge Deck, you must be seated at a table.
High-touch surfaces will be disinfected throughout the day.
Hand-washing stations and hand sanitizer can be found throughout the park.
We ask all visitors to the park to please maintain social distance from other guests.
