I only knew one Grandparent, my Dad's Dad. Giovanni Nardone was from Naples, Italy and came to the USA via Ellis Island. I had asked my parents why they didn't name me Giovanna, that would have been cool. This was at my home, probably on a holiday. My Grandfather was very handsome, like my Dad, and gave me my great head of hair. When my Dad got older, he resembled his Father very much. He lived to the age of 98 1/2 and when he passed away, I felt bad for my Dad. They were close since he was the youngest boy. Family is such an important part of our lives, it really shapes us for our future. I was very lucky to have spent the time I did with my Grandpa Nardone. I am grateful for photographs like these, which bring back wonderful memories and a smile to my face.
