I am always on the hunt for new restaurants. While in the Union Square area, I recently visited The Fourth, which is located in the Hyatt Union Square. I picked it myself, only to find my lovely friend who joined me, Ellen Christine, knew of the place and loved it.
I lunched today with the fabulous milliner, Ellen Christine, who is the lady to see if you need a hat for any occasion! We both went with the Prix Fixe for $29 which seemed like a great deal. I have been doing my main meal at lunch when I am in the city, and it works out very well for me. Ellen Christine went with the English pea soup with Jonah Crab (omg!)
and I had the (I couldn't stand how good this was) polenta with fresh farm egg, bacon and wild mushroom vinaigrette. It was probably one of the best things I ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Creamy, tasty and just fabulous! This made my polenta really go to shame! Heaven in a bowl, I say it is!
We both picked the salmon for our main, with quinoa, cucumber salad and lemon yogurt dressing. I think the piece could have been a bit bigger, but with everything else we were enjoying, it was fine. Tasted very good, melted in your mouth, nice and light for me after the polenta.
For dessert, Ellen Christine choose the rhubarb pavloa with buttermilk sherbet and rhubarb compote. It was almost too pretty to eat. Almost.
My dessert was the rice pudding with caramelized banana and passion fruit sorbet. I was a pretty happy person at this point.
Always a great way to end a dinner with a cappuccino! I hope you enjoyed this little visit to The Fourth, and if you are looking for a neat spot in the Union Square area, I would highly suggest it. If you are in need of a most unique and fabulous hat, visit Ellen Christine!
