2011 Philadelphia Flower Show "Springtime in Paris" Fashion

Sixteen dresses & gowns designed by PhilaU fashion design students were featured as part of Springtime in Paris, the 2011 Philadelphia International Flower Show, from March 6 to 13 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The show celebrated fashion, fragrances and floral that exemplify the height of Parisian influence.

“Fashion and design have long been a part of the Philadelphia International Flower Show,” said Drew Becher, president of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS), which produces the show annually. “This year, we are excited to incorporate signature Parisian elements and style that reinforce our 2011 theme Springtime in Paris.”
What better way to include fashion than to call on some of Philadelphia University’s best designers? As part of a collaboration between PhilaU and the Flower Show to bring haute couture to the event, show organizers selected 16 student-designed dresses that will be exhibited at the show and also used as inspiration for companion floral designs.
The dresses and accompanying floral designs will be rotated every two days and featured in the Artistic Divisions of the Flower Show. The Show dress competition, named “Haute Couture,” is one of dozens of amateur flower arrangement displays that will be judged on Saturday, March 5.

I love how the dresses are all next to their flowered inspirations. The red dress looks as rich and soft as real petals.
