LeChurro's 1st Anniversary October 28, 2013

It is amazing to think LeChurro is going to be open a year on October 28th! I just made my first visit while in the city in September, it was on my to do list. Since I was visiting the Met that day, this was a good chance to find the place. I actually kept looking for quite a while as it is a small storefront, but was happy when I finally saw it across the street.
They have a nice selection of items for purchase as gifts, or just to take home for yourself. The packaging is quite lovely and old-fashioned.
The menu. For those who do not know, a churro is a pastry from Spain, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. You can dip them with various sauces, or filled at LeChurro. In Spain, they are often served with a cup of thick hot chocolate for dipping. Sounds heavenly, no ?
Wonderful bags of their coffee is available for purchase
This toffee looked amazing
Very small counter, the place itself has only a few tables, some at the window, and I believe a bench outside as well to sit and enjoy your tasty items
It was actually so hot the day I was there, even in September, I couldn't really take any of these gorgeous looking items with me, for fear of melting! Do you see the cracker jacks to the right? Like I said, vintage delicacies!
Love love love these !

To think one would get paid to do this is amazing to me! That chocolate smelled out of this world!
These peanut butter cookies were so calling me, but the poor things were melting even in the shop! I felt really bad they could not come home with me.
Okay, here they are
I went with the plain churro, not filled, and a chocolate peanut butter dipping sauce (are you not really that surprised!)
An iced coffee was needed on this hot day. So the peanut butter is at the bottom, and the homemade chocolate sauce is on top, the two marry when you dip your churro.
This was my first time trying them, and I have to say, they were quite good. Crunchy, a bit sweet, soft on the inside, and then with the sauce, well, you are one happy person. I think it's great the owner decided to bring a slice of Spain to New York City. I hope they open another location in the city since this one seems to be going over very well. If you sign up for their emails on their website, HERE, you can try a free one yourself.  I do not think you will be disappointed one bit.
