Since we are enjoying the latest Metropolitan Museum of Art fashion exhibit, I thought we would go back to the one in 2015 titled "Jacqueline de Ribes: The Art of Style". This was really an amazing exhibit, and one of my favorite pieces, this gorgeous gown is for your enjoyment today. What a fashion statement indeed. Linda's at Bergdorf Goodman

The famous store, Bergdorf Goodman, always has the best windows. When I was in the city for the fashion exhibit at The Met, they had the most wonderful windows to celebrate the opening of Linda's at Bergdorf Goodman. Linda Fargo who is the public face behind the famous store, was opening a 600 square foot shop-within-a shop on the fourth floor. The shop offers a mix of vintage and current season ready-to-wear and accessories, artisan chocolate and $110 candles.

The windows are so much fun, and reflect what a fun shopping experience this will be. I love going into Bergdorf just to look around and see the gorgeous selections.

Throwback Thursday "Harlem 1933"

For our feature today, I found this wonderful photograph of ladies in Harlem in 1933. I just love their fashion, as well as the fashion on the children. Those coats are just fantastic! I love the hats too! I think we should go back to dressing so chic every day of the week!

Jacqueline de Ribes: The Art of Style

I am so sorry for being behind in posts, but the holiday stunk up on me! Fear not, as this fabulous exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art - Jacqueline de Ribes The Art of Style is on view until February 21, 2016. This is the second exhibit in the Costume Institute, and the last to be curated by Harold Koda. 

Here is some background from the Met's website on this very glamorous lady: 

Countess Jacqueline de Ribes (born 1929 in Paris to aristocratic parents) is seen by many as the ultimate personification of Parisian elegance. She was, with the American and Italian beauties Gloria Vanderbilt and Marella Agnelli, among the small flock of “Swans” photographed by Richard Avedon and written about by Truman Capote in 1959. 

Married at age 19 to Édouard, Vicomte de Ribes (he became the Count de Ribes upon the death of his father in 1981), the traditions of her in-laws precluded her from becoming a career woman. An independent spirit, she channeled her creativity into a series of ventures linked by fashion, theater, and style. In 1956, de Ribes was nominated for Eleanor Lambert’s Best-Dressed List. At the time, she had only a handful of couture dresses, as most of her wardrobe was comprised of her own designs, which she made herself or with a dressmaker. Four more nominations followed, and resulted in her induction into the International Best-Dressed List Hall of Fame in 1962. 

This exhibit is really such a treat for anyone who loves fashion. I would highly suggest anyone to run and see it before it closes in February. You will not be at the least disappointed.  

Watch for the second installment of this exhibit for the ball gowns which are to die for! I am also working on a separate post with her fabulous quotes. They are for sure the kind you wish to cut out and stick to your fridge!
