Grand Bazaar Opening June 6, 2021

Happy Monday everyone! Wonderful news to report that the fantastic Grand Bazaar on the Upper West Side is reopening June 6th. This awesome market has indoor and outdoor vendors but I believe they will be just starting with the outdoor for now, they do have a very big space for the vendors. The market donates 100% of it's proceeds to local public schools, which it has done since it's inception founded as the Green Flea in 1982. The name changed to Grand Bazaar in 2016.

This was actually one of the last places I visited when in the city February 2020 before everything locked down. Little did I know at the time, I would not be back wandering around the best city in the world for over a year!

You can find a wonderful array of items here - vintage jewelry, handbags, local artists and designers. On a gorgeous weather day on a Sunday, it is the perfect place to be. Here are some of the cool items I have seen while visiting the Grand Bazaar.

Just love these coats !!

They normally have food but not sure when that will be back this year
These were quite heavenly

Gorgeous handbags as I do collect them you know
New or vintage usually catch my eye

Vintage Jewelry to blow your mind

I purchased one of the initial necklaces for $15 and have been seeing almost the same item on Nordstrom website for much more money

I wanted these glasses in the worst way but wasn't sure I could get them home in one piece

Be sure to add this fantastic place on your NYC to do list !! A great way to spend a lazy Sunday in the city!

Upper West Side Spotlight: Grand Bazaar NYC

A gorgeous Sunday in the city, spent on the Upper West Side and a sweet view of the Museum of Natural History. Very close to the museum is one of my favorite places to shop for unique gift, The Grand Bazaar. They just celebrated their 3rd Anniversary yesterday, and I feel they will be celebrating many more to come. This market is where you will find vintage items as well as many items made by artisans, they are very particular about the vendors that are showcased here. Some of the markets in the city have become so expensive the smaller businesses cannot afford to display their items for sale. Along with finding some cool products, this market is also the funding source for 4 public schools in the surrounding area. Profits benefit over 2,000 school children providing them with items such as art programs, books, supplies.

Any time I can shop for unique products, one of a kind, support small business and children, it is a win-win situation. Here are some items I found last week and I have their listing of shows for the rest of the year. Please stop by if in the area on a Sunday, they have food stands as well if you wish to get a bite to eat while shopping.

These were coasters made to look like records. Such a fun gift for yourself or a friend.
During the winter months, they do have items indoors as well

A Sunday in the Upper West Side

I love Sundays in New York City as they are usually much calmer than Saturdays. The Upper West Side is such a great area to explore, and you see more local folks than tourists. There are great museums, shops and restaurants as well as my favorite, Breads Bakery! On this particular Sunday, let's see what I was up to:

I stopped in the New York Historical Society and had brunch in their very yummy restaurant, Storico. The decor is just lovely as well as the food!

An omelette with potato hash was my choice.
The potato hash was like one I never had before but was so darn good. Filled with vegetables along with the potato, this serving was enough for 2.
I checked out some of the cool exhibits within the museum

I always pop in the Tiffany exhibit because who doesn't like to be surrounded by these gorgeous works of art!

I made another stop at the Grand Bazaar which is one of the BEST flea markets, runs only on Sundays.
I was thrilled to see Jessie's cups at the market as I have been seeing them on Instagram and have wanted to try for a while.
They make Reese's look like amateurs! For the peanut butter lovers, a great gift or treat for yourself.
They have lots of food at the Grand Bazaar as well as food trucks. It really is one of the best flea markets in the city.

Wonderful original hats can be found here as well

I really wanted these glasses but wasn't sure if they would make it home without breaking. They were just too darn adorable!
