Union Square Cafe Review

As I always say, there are so many places to visit in New York City, this was one that was on my list for quite some time. Union Square Cafe, which has been around for a very long time, and owned by Danny Meyer. I was thrilled to finally stop by for brunch with a friend and was so excited that it is worth the hype. The space is very lovely and large, the food was totally amazing and I hope to be back soon when in the area. Here is some history on the place from their website:

Danny Meyer's Union Square Cafe has re-opened in its new location on 101 East 19th Street. Founded in 1985, Union Square Cafe was one of the originators of contemporary American cuisine, and remains a destination for warm hospitality and Chef Carmen Quagliata's thoughtfully executed, creative cooking. Union Square Cafe is Danny Meyer’s first restaurant and the birthplace of a generation of widely lauded, award-winning restaurants, as well as the starting point for the careers of many world-renowned chefs.

Union Square Cafe has won five James Beard Awards and also earned Zagat Survey’s #1 ranking as New York’s Most Popular Restaurant an unprecedented nine times. Union Square Cafe is a non-tipping restaurant.

I like the fact that the tip is included, especially when you are dining with others. This was a big deal when Danny Meyer decided to go this route, but I think it was the right choice. I would highly recommend you trying the place, you will not be disappointed!

Old fashioned pancakes, like Mom used to make
Chicken Milanese
Chicory & Apple Salad, Walnut Raisin Vinaigrette, Pecorino Romano
This was so yummy and a great choice for me!

Instagram July 2015 with Some Tips

We are back visiting one of my favorite social media apps, Instagram! This app has been so amazing since it's beginning and when Facebook purchased it in 2012 for 1 billion, folks were shaking their heads. With the company now worth somewhere around 35 billion, I think they made the right choice.

While my other favorite social media platform, Twitter, seems to be stalling, Instagram is growing by leaps and bounds. I think everyone loves photography, and I think it's so cool to see photos someone is taking in Paris while I am in Pennsylvania! I also find lots of cool thing to purchase on Instagram from folks I follow and trust their recommendations.

There are 300M monthly active users on Instagram, 70% are folks outside the USA, 30B plus photos shared, 2.5B likes daily, 70M average photos per day - Taken from Instagram press page

My photos on my stream are very varied. I do not follow a theme as I know many say you should, but I like to show my interests and they are quite diverse. I find to gain follows on the site, you need to comment yourself, engage in others, take part in a project like the #1day12pics where you meet folks with the same interest as yourself. Hashtags are also very important in your photos, so people can find what you are showing in your stream. Emma Davies has a great article HERE on how to increase your Instagram following. I really enjoy her tips on her site, gives you many great ideas to grow your blog following.

If you are on Instagram, please leave your link in the comments so I can give you a follow. Hope you are following me as well, and enjoying my crazy interests! I apologize for the food photos in advance, I know they can bring hunger pains!!

Instagram June 2015

Are you addicted to Instagram? I must say, when Facebook bought the app, I deleted my account. I am so not a fan of Facebook. However, after a few weeks, I was really missing it, and had to create another account which is why my name is nycstylecanoli, missing a "n". I really just love the site, I think it's so cool to see some of the amazing creative folks in the world. My account is very diverse, from sweets to architecture to quotes, whatever strikes my fancy. And I fancy quite a bit!

Some of my photos from the month of June above are: flowers on my table in my dining room, gorgeous roses from the Architectural Digest Home Show, my omelet of spinach with fresh mozzarella cheese, the polka dot kitchen art installation of Yayoi Kusama, Saks Fifth Avenue Vera Wang bridal window, Anna Torte from the NYC departed Demel which is still in Vienna, gorgeous door in Greenwich Village, a fabulous quote and a fun diary from the cool store Flying Tiger!

You can keep up with my Instagram account here, and be sure to say hi so I can give you a follow back! If you have an instagram and would like to share your account, please do so in the comments below!
