I had the pleasure of visiting the
Brandywine River Museum about a week ago for the first time. Visiting during the holidays seems like a very good idea, although in the warmer months, I would say the scenery would be lovely as well. The museum exhibits American art in a 19th century grist mill, the collections of 3 generations of the
Wyeth family.
The natural decorations were just wonderful
These brick walkways looked fabulous but a bit hard to walk on, even in flats
The museum has craftspeople lined up as you walk in, through December 30th, and some were nicer than others. The products were very amazing and it was nice to purchase items made right in Pennsylvania. I think there could have been more of a selection however but I liked the touch.
These flower pins were really sweet for a plain dress or a coat.
There were many Christmas trees decorated with natural ornaments
I think this was my favorite with the hydrangea flowers and angels

The dining area was a bit disappointing but bearable. It is really a cafeteria style with limited sandwichs, salads and soup.
Of all things to find here, a cannoli, which had the right ricotta filling but was a bit soft due to being filled too soon from when served. I was happy nonetheless to enjoy these little desserts.
I hope you enjoyed this little visit, I do have more to show you as they have some very neat exhibits for the holiday season.
The Brandywine Valley is home to many exceptional museums and gardens, many located within ten miles of the Brandywine River Museum. Museum admission is free on Sunday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to noon, January 13, 2013 through November 24, 2013. Please note: paid admission is required on Memorial Day weekend during the Annual Antiques Show, which is a benefit for the Museum Volunteers' Art Purchase Fund.
