2010 Chocolate Show New York

After seeing all those gorgeous chocolate creations, you may think there is no more to the show. Oh, well there is lots more to this show! I did read from others that samples were not plentiful and you had to pay for some before but at this years show, all were free. They were usually small tastes but you were tasting all day so small was good. I had also heard that folks who tried to attend on the Sunday couldn't get in because tickets at the door were sold out. I highly suggest you purchase your tickets in advance should you attend the 2011 show. They may use the Javitz Center which would give them more room. Enough small talk...on to some chocolate......
lovely banner as you entered the show as well as the smell was amazing
yes a chocolate train
this is like a really big tease....don't ya think? look at those truffles!!
the National Confectioners Association's Chocolate Council was on hand
Chocolate comes from the tropics where it is harvested from the fruit of cacao trees. It grows on small orchards in Latin America, West Africa and South Asia.
more truffles did you say? Le Chef Patissier is your truffle maker
these are very affordable truffles and so yummy!!
the camera really liked them as well
we had more than one sample here....as you can imagine
I did not write down the name of this stand but what amazing chocolate they had to dip with whatever your heart desires.......
these cookies looked so yummy and were packaged just lovely

the tree has arrived in Rockefeller Center! has been trimmed and getting ready for it's big event on Tuesday, November 30th from 7 to 9pm eastern standard time.......

2010 Chocolate Show New York Maison Boissier

We are roughly less than 2 months away from the 2011 Chocolate Show in New York City! Maison Boissier is one of the great chocolate shops from Paris that attended last year and will be there this year as well. You can check out the list of exhibitors HERE.

This chocolate shop from Paris began in 1827 and really had the most beautiful packaging

These were homemade marshmallows! Can you imagine these on top of your hot chocolate?
Here are some chocolate petals......what a great gift this would be to take home to family and friends from the show........

There are exhibitors from Brooklyn, New York to Washington, DC to Paris, France to London, England which I think is really quite fantastic! To be able to sample and purchase from all these great confectioners at one time is just amazing, for a chocolate lover like myself.

I highly suggest purchasing tickets in advance, as you save a bit on the entrance fee and on the Saturday and Sunday dates it gets very busy and may even sell out. I would not take the chance on the weekend to go without a ticket.

E. Guittard at the 2010 Chocolate Show

We are back at the Chocolate Show from last November and I must say, very excited to cover it for you in 2011 ! If you love chocolate and baking, this is the place to be in NYC in November........
Guittard was one of the many chocolate companies with a table selling their products
The company began in 1868 when Etienne Guittard opened his shop in San Francisco on Sansome Street. Originally from Tournus, France, he learned chocolate making from his uncle.
these chips in various flavors, the milk samples were pretty popular, went home with me for some baking
the syrup flavors were original as well and the milk chocolate one seemed to come home with me !!

Nick Malgeri at the 2010 Chocolate Show

There were so many great events at the 2010 Chocolate Show, we are still talking about them 3 months later! I was thrilled to be able to attend a demo with Nick Malgeri, who was the former Executive Pastry Chef at Windows on the World ( in the World Trade Center), book author and teacher.
we had a pretty full room of eager bakers ready to learn from one of the best.....
his new book is titled Bake! and he signed copies after in the bookstore
he was making a hazelnut chocolate tart....sea salt was the salt of choice for this tart
he explained how to measure flour properly and how to toast the hazelnuts
he also answered questions from the audience
the finished product was amazing! the recipe can be found in the Bake! book ..... and on the Chocolate Show website HERE
