Ole and Steen is a Danish bakery that has opened quite a bit of locations within the city. I was finally able to try some of their items, they are all so unique looking and I was not disappointed. They have savory items as well as sweet, and the layout of the bakeries are very modern.
Here is some info from their website:
Founded in 1991 by bakers Ole Kristoffersen and Steen Skallebaek and originally called Lagkagehuset or "layer cake house," Ole & Steen is a pioneer in the resurgence of artisanal and handcrafted baking practices in Denmark.
Ole & Steen brings a Danish sensibility and style to New York City. We offer a sleek yet inviting space designed with a modern sense of Danish hygge (pronounced hoog- ah) and hospitality, meant to encourage guests to gather over convivial meals throughout the day.
The chocolate and cinnamon items were my favorite, just blow your mind! This is a great example when I tell you to try new things when in the city, don't just go to places you know. You can find so many unique foods in this glorious city, part of travel is being adventurous about what you see and eat.
Loved their bike for deliveries!
Their 3 locations, Bryant Park - 48th and Lexington Avenue - Union Square are all great spots to take a break from exploring the city and enjoy some Danish tasty treats!
