Happy Thanksgiving 2013

Today is Thanksgiving Day in the United States. A very popular holiday indeed, filled with tasty food, family, and that famous parade by Macy’s in New York City. My memories of this day as a child, watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade on television, while my Mom cooked in the kitchen. The smells of stuffing, turkey and pumpkin pie were very aromatic. I always say if you want to make your house smell good, just cook something. My Dad passed away in 2004, and this year has been very difficult for me with my Mom, as her health fades. It is very hard to see your parents get old and the role is reversed. I am thankful this year for the values my parents gave me, the time I have left with my Mom, the time I did have with my Dad, the strength and determination which makes up my personality. My Mom has the best taste, which she taught me to appreciate, I feel as though I am the younger version of herself.  I am so thankful for the lovely folks I have met through this blog. There are such fantastic people I have had the pleasure to know which makes up for those who are not so nice. Life is too short, if people do not support you and give you positive encouragement, you need to move on. The people who treat you the best, you should cherish them completely.

I wish all that celebrate the holiday today a wonderful day filled with family and friends. Thanksgiving is a day to be thankful for all that is good in our lives, and the wonderful memories we will have forever.
