Michel Cluizel Debuts US Based Factory and Launches First Ever OU Certified Kosher LINE

Parve Truffle, Macarons and Pastries Available Just in Time for Major Jewish Holidays

September 2011, New York City – Since Michel Cluizel’s inception in 1948 the company has become synonymous with the luxury chocolate market around the world and here in New York. Expanding their reach to the kosher observant community just in time for the major Jewish holidays, Chocolat Michel Cluizel, the company’s only US retail store located at 584 5^th Avenue, is launching a first of its kind line of OU certified kosher truffles, pastries and macarons, the most acknowledged and accredited kosher certification in the industry.  The products also mark the first time this 63 year old French based company is producing chocolates here in the United States, with a brand new facility built especially for this Kosher line in West Berlin, New Jersey.

Opera Cake 

This first line of Kosher truffles includes 5 different varieties: Gianduja Caramel, Earl Grey Tea, Crunchy Praliné, Praliné with Cocoa Nibs and Old Fashioned Praliné.  Patrons that visit Chocolate Michel Cluizel in New York City can hand select their choices at $2 a piece or pick up a pre-packaged and sealed box of 14, 16, or 25 pieces.   The store also offers both chocolate and vanilla OU certified kosher macarons at $2.50 a piece and a variety of kosher pastries including a Crunchy Praliné Napoleon, Vanilla and Chocolate Éclairs and a Chocolate Opera Cake.   Similar to the truffles, patrons can either hand select these items or with 24 hours notice, can buy a pre-packaged and sealed box of pastries, such as the “Shabbat Box,” which includes four gourmet kosher pastries for $20.

“We understand the needs of our customers and our goal is to always adapt to accommodate them,” explained      Jacques Dahan, the head of Michel Cluizel’s US operations.  “This was the perfect time to roll out our kosher line with Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Hanukah all around the corner.  One of the best add-ons with this launch is the pastry box. If you call us on Wednesday to place an order we can have a box ready for you to pick-up on Friday afternoon before Shabbat, and the delicious pastries are perfect for sharing at a Sabbath celebration,” he concluded
